'05 OH OL Rick Ingold (Columbia "signee")

Rick Ingold

Quote:
Ht: 6-4 Wt: 267 40: 4.7
Position: OL
High School: Newark HS
(Newark, OH)

Biography:
Stands out on both sides of the ball, but may project better as an offensive lineman in college. Runs very well with good mobility and has a great frame with room to grow.

Quote:
Ohio has several quality offensive line prospects this year, one of whom is Rick Ingold of Newark. Ingold is in the process of deciding what his summer camp plans will be.

"I was going to sit down with my parents and coach and decide about that in the next couple of days," he said.

Some of it is already sorted out.

"Ohio State and Indiana for sure," Ingold said. "A couple of the MAC schools for one day. Anything else, we're just going to decide in the next couple of days."

Ingold checks in at 262 ("I just got on the scale yesterday," he said) and is also a tremendous student as he carries a 4.0 GPA. Not surprisingly, some of the nation's top academic institutions are interested.

"Yale says they can get me in if I can score a 28 (on the ACT)," he said. "I scored a 26. Stanford is in touch. West Virginia is in touch."

Ingold will likely have many options before it is all said and done, but the Buckeyes are his leader.

"Ohio State has always been my favorite," he said. "I'd love to go there."

"I like what I'm getting from Indiana," he added. "They have a top 20 business school."

Ingold could play on either side of the ball, but we project him as an OL and he agrees.

"I prefer offense," he said. "I just think I have a better shot at playing there."

When is he looking to make a decision?

"I'm not really thinking about it," he said. "It depends on who offers whether I make a decision early or late."

What will be the biggest factors in his decision?

"It'll be a gut feeling," he said. "And academics. I'm going to college for school. If anything comes from football, it's gravy."

Bio Notes: A second team all-conference selection his junior season. Ingold bench presses 295 pounds and squats 395.

my guess is Ingold is #69 in the team photo

Ingold #69 ???

Although Duane Long called Ingold a sleeper prospect, his Nike camp numbers were not too impressive:

Height: 6-foot-3
Weight: 263 pounds
40-yard dash: 5.12 seconds (compared to 4.7 in Insiders data base)
Bench max: 295 pounds
Bench reps: 16
Squat max: 395 pounds
Vertical leap: 21 inches
Shuttle time: 5.13 seconds

However, he's a great student (4.0, 26 ACT), and sounds like a great kid, too.
