Tennessee Insiders Premium
tOSU and Tennessee are his two finalists.
Rico says he is looking for a place where he is comfortable. He is also looking at the school's tradition and stability of the coaching staff. He is not worried about distance, saying both schools are not close to him. It may come down to a gut feeling, follow his heart.
He will major in Communications.
Originally, he said he didn't mind redshirting for a year but not anymore. He wants to play some as a Freshman so he can get his feet wet for his Sophmore year.

I'm not sure if Tennessee's depth chart would be all that accommadating to Rico.
Assuming Kevin Simon doesn't declare for the NFL draft, the only guy the Vols will be losing is Kevin Burnett. Adding recruits Andre Mathis and Todd Cox to the depth chart next year will only increase the logjam.

I wouldn't expect his to redshirt if he were to be a Buckeye anyways. If Freeman saw some time last year to get ready and be a full-time stud LB his Jr Year, then Rico will almost undoutbedly see time this year to get ready as the big 4 (MDA, Bobby, Hawk, Schlegel) graduate.

Freeman, Hoobler, and Terry all saw time last year as true freshmen. OSU loves to play their linebackers on special teams, so Rico will at least make a big impact there as a freshman. It also can't hurt to play a year behind the best WILL in college football for a year (Hawk) before stepping into the starting role.

this is from the rivals main message board. mike farrell says he thinks osu has been the team to beat for some time now. read the reaction from the vols guy named damnitalljim, its funny. I threw a little jab at him just to instigate him. He flipped his lid 2 weeks ago, when a bsb poster from maryland said that the local radio station doing a report on area high school players reported that mccoy was leaning towards osu "per his family".
also, farrell has a mcoy update coming, which may be of interest.

It is still down to tOSU and Tenn (both are even). He was impressed with both teams Bowl performance. He will announce at the AA game.
He saw all the MoC and Troy Smith stuff on ESPN during the game. He felt it was a "low blow" because it happened before the season and it will not affect him. But if more stuff came out before Jan. 15 (penalizing tOSU) it would affect him.
JT is visiting Rico tonight (Fullmer has already visited).

both schools even, thinks espn stuff was a "low blow", fulmer already visited, JT in-home tonight about 8 days before he leaves for the AA game. That all adds up in osu's favor.
I don't know too many coaches that are better in a family's living room. JT getting the last visit over Fulmer really helps osu.
