'05 OH ATH Alex Daniels (Minnesota signee, transfer to Cincinnati)

He didn't say much. I asked him about Daniels ("Is he going to stay in Columbus?) in passing and he said that he's in Minny this weekend. He also said that he thinks that that's where he'll end up. That's all that was said.

He will start at Minnesota next year their defense is pathetic. Early PT academics are the only reasons I see him going to Minny. They don't have their own stadium and facilities aren't shit compared to ours. Academics or PT is the main reasons he would want to go their I can't see any others.

FYI- Alex's teammate and Pitt commit Dominic Jones also went to Minny this weekend. There is some talk that he may join Alex in Minny. Maybe Massey is also not that far behind.

You know Minny does seem to make some sense, there are a bunch of city league kids up there and it would make Alex's mom happy by him leaving C-bus.

Good luck to him if that is where he ends up.

1. Makes him mom happy
2. Gets early PT
3. Plays in the Big 10
4. Academics
5.Good Coach (Not better than Tressel, but he has job security)

He just got back from Minny and felt very at home. He was hosted by fellow city leaguer, Gary Russell.

He says he didn't commit because he still wants to visit LSU and OU.

Daniels will also strongly consider tOSU and will not make a final decision until February.

Agree. I can't see us taking more than 4 LB's. With two committed, and McCoy, Lenix, Mathis, Hodge still possible... although I don't think Daniels is at all interested in OSU anyways.

Everything I have read says that they will leave a spot open for Daniels. He is a pure specimen and play a number of spots - think Cie Grant but stronger.

I think Daniels is interested otherwise he wouldnt have been at practice today at the WHAC or meeting with JT in his office. DL over an BN said he will be posting an interview with Daniels later tonight. Soundsl like tOSU is putting the full court press on Daniels. I know everyone thinks this kid wants to go elsewhere but maybe he is ust enjoying the recruiting moment and/or wants to be "shown the love". Who knows but I do want this kid, his measureables and knack for the ball are unreal.

Alex Daniels of Columbus Brookhaven is still on cloud nine over his team's state championship, but he is now in the middle of recruiting. Duane Long has a quick update on Daniels today.


Columbus Brookhaven star Alex Daniels is starting to get into the thick of recruiting, but his team's state title win is still on his mind.

"I am still not over the championship," he said. "I won't get over that for awhile."

Daniels took a few minutes to talk to OSU head coach Jim Tressel this afternoon.

"I was over at Ohio State for awhile today," Daniels said. "I spoke to Coach Tressel. It went well."

This past weekend, Daniels took a trip to the University of Minnesota. Daniels talked a bit about the trip.

"Minnesota was fun," he said. "Mostly because of the players. There are so many guys I know from high school. There are like 10 players from right here in Columbus. Guys I have known for years. It was a nice visit."

Daniels will be on his way to Oklahoma next and talked about visiting Ohio State.

"I am going to Oklahoma this weekend," he said. "I haven't set anything up with Ohio State but that is going to happen."

i like reading between the lines of that last article nutty.

if daniels is loving championships so much i don't think minnesota is a good fit. oklahoma and ohio state on the other hand...

if daniels is loving being around familiar guys and friends oklahoma is not a good fit. ohio state and minnesota on the other hand...

we just need to work on the mom now and this is done.

I have actually thought for a while that he likes O State the best but his mom is pushing him elsewhere. That's were the "levelheaded" comment came in and why he is so mixed. I think Doc Tressel has a talk with her and we have as good a chance as any.
