Schools like Oklahoma realize that they need an edge to get these kids away from Coach Tressel and staff. If they know he prefers safety at this time, of course they'll tell him that. If they were realistic and honest, they'd see he's a LB all the way. 230 as a junior, no way he's under 240 by the time he starts school. No safety tips the scales at 240. Even Taylor was an anomaly. Anything over 215ish is not that common for a college safety.

The fact that daniels, as a soon to be senior in high school compares to taylor, a soon to be rookie in the nfl; should be a big hint that daniel's isn't done growing. I do think the OSU coaches should give him the chance at his 1st pos. of choice like they seem to do with other players. If he is meant to be a safety, he'll end up there; if not he won't.

Duane has said before and Daniels here that the rumors he favors OU are false. Alex has never indicated anything of the sort.

Some kids finish growing height-wise early, by the time they're 17 or 18. So, he may just "all grown up" in height. By the way, the Bengals had David Fulcher, a strong safety who was 235-240 and made the Pro Bowl three times and was Defensive Back of the Year for the NFL in 1989. If a safety that big could shine back then (his career ran from '86 to '93), a kid that size can definitely star at the college level over a decade later (compare the sizes of college kids and pros back when he played with college kids today).

I'll trust Tressel & Co. here. If they think he can play, I'd love to have him. I do enjoy the thought of seeing a 240 lb Safety coming up and knocking a scUM RB's block off as he comes through the line.

Sure, an NFL safety MIGHT hit 235-240. Who was the last college safety to do so? Sean Taylor was barely 230 and he was considered very big.

A lot of kids stop growing before HS finishes, but they've still got a lot of room to add muscle mass. My buddy was 5-10 or so and started out just under 180. In less than a year in the OSU S&C program, he was a rock-hard 195-200. Besides the OL, I would question anybody that didn't put on a good 10+ lbs. of muscle in one year under that program. It's very intense.

Daniels would like to make a decision soon because he wants to get the process over with. His mother would like him to leave Columbus because he knows where to get into trouble in Columbus. He has been talking on the phone with Bo Pelini and Daniels is friendly with Andrew Lavender and Brandon Foust, the two Brookhaven kids who now play basketball at Oklahoma.

Not a very promising update.

its not like he wont find places to get in trouble in norman, every place has its bad spots u just have to be smart enough to avoid them. but the thing about the basketball players, i juts hope he picks the place thats best fit for him, but i hope he wears the scarlet and gray

Oh Well!!!! OSU football is not going to crumble because this kid commits to Okie. I agree that if he has such a problem staying out of trouble maybe we don't want him. I can't believe a guardian would be sooooo nieve and say that he knows where to get into trouble in Columbus. It will take him one party in Norman to find out where trouble is at there. I mean where does she think hes gonna stay 24 hours a day locked up in his room!!!!!

Pretty amazing commentary on his Mom when you think about it. "Ship him out of town. He's a trouble maker." If you cared about him, wouldn't you want to keep him close, where you could keep an eye on him?

His latest Rivals update is a little more positive for tOSU. There's no doubt in my mind the OU is the team to beat, but his mind is still not made up. It sounds like he loves tOSU, but he wants to get out of C-Bus. At least he has accepted the fact that he will be a linebacker in college. His weight is up to 230 lbs.
