Anthony Felder, O'Dea, 6-3, 225, senior, inside linebacker

The Sporting News/SchoolSports magazine ranks O'Dea's Anthony Felder as the No. 21 prospect in the West. Rivals.com says he's the ninth-best inside linebacker in the nation. Defending national champion LSU wants him on its roster. So do Ohio State, Penn State and about every Pac-10 team.

But for the next four months, the hard-hitting Felder is all Monte Kohler's.

"In addition to the talent he has, (he brings) the notion of just being one of the guys," the O'Dea head coach said. "Obviously he's a great football player and a great kid. All the kids look up to him and respect him."

Last season Felder, playing in the shadow of highly touted seniors such as Chancellor Young and Andre Geraghty, quietly racked up 446 yards and five touchdowns. On defense, he had even more of an impact with 146 tackles and five sacks.

"To compare him to a couple of current Washington linebackers, Felder has the size and hitting ability of Tim Galloway, but the speed, footwork, tenacity and play-making ability of Tahj Bomar," Chris Fetters, editor of Dawgman.com, said. "And he's a winner to boot. In short, he's the real deal."

He is visiting ND this weekend and his dad is setting up a visit with tOSU. He also thinks he will visit LSU, Washington but is not sure on his fifth visit yet.

Just watched a premium Rivals interview with Felder. Ohio State, Notre Dame and LSU make up his top 3 and he will officially visit each school. When talking about the Buckeyes he mentioned the National Championship and how he likes the Buckeye defense but admits he doesn't know alot about the school. His visits will be important and his Dad will play a big role in where he decides to go.

Toward the end of the video he mentioned the U was like a dream school for him and they've told him they may offer soon.

That's that problem with "media hype" teams (Miami, USC, etc.)...everyone wants to be a part of the glamour and attention.

The "U" is about to get a commit from LB Demetri Stewert next Tuesday. It's going to be hard to sell Felder, Mccoy and Beckum on availabilityat the position with willie williams and james bryant not even sniffing the field yet.

Felder Still In Playoffs

Linebacker Anthony "Tony" Felder is still in the midst of his season currently. The 6-3, 215-pound Felder is also trying to set up his official visits. We spoke with Felder on Sunday to get an update on where he'll be visiting this winter. Will Felder visit Notre Dame?

Anthony Felder says he's been a busy man lately.

"My team is playing. We have our first playoff game coming this weekend," said Felder. "We're 7-2 right now so hopefully we can win it all."

Felder had been planning on taking some official visit during the season but that appears to have changed.

"I was trying to set some up for November, but it looks like I'll try to make them in December now," the Seattle, Wash. native said. I won't be taking any visit during my season now."

Felder says he's starting to narrow his list down for visits.

"I know I'm visiting Notre Dame in early December," he said. "I haven't set the date, but I talk to coach McDonell every week and we're trying to get it set up for early December.

"I'm also trying to set up a visit for Ohio State in December. I've been talking to Miami a lot recently and I'm thinking about taking another official visit there. I'm also thinking I'll take a visit to LSU."

Felder is also wanting to take a look at his home school.

"I'll probably visit Washington as well," Felder said. "With the coaching change, I'm not sure if or when I'll be able to do that. But I want to take a visit there."

We asked Felder if he had a few schools standing out right now.

Not really,I haven't been to any of the schools I'm visiting so the visits will help me figure that out," said Felder.

"I've only been to Washington, Oregon and Oregon State on unofficial visits. I've never been to any of the other schools. Once I take my visits, I should have a better idea of a favorite."

Comments: The Irish appear to be in good shape with Felder right now. He plans to take a visit and I'll bet they try to get him in for the banquet weekend. That will likely depend on his playoff schedule, however.

On the field, those schools have more than lived up to all the media hype over the last few years.

Miami hasn't been all that since getting out of the Big Least, plus USC is a newcomer back to the elite after a decade of mediocrity. Oklahoma has been just as good but isn't a "glamour" team...far more kids seem to list USC and Miami than Oklahoma.

Nevermind the fact that Miami has lost countless players to the NFL draft over the last few years with an astounding 6 taken in last year's 1st round alone. At last count, they still only have 2 losses and are still in the running for a BCS bowl.

USC is just getting back to prominence but I don't see them going anywhere for a very long time as long as Pete Carroll and Norm Chow are around.

Nevermind the fact that Miami has lost countless players to the NFL draft over the last few years with an astounding 6 taken in last year's 1st round alone. At last count, they still only have 2 losses and are still in the running for a BCS bowl.

Miami is struggling right now and is headed to play a stout UVA team on the road. They could very well lose their 3rd straight and end up clamoring for a December bowl just like osu.

If Miami loses today, the best they can finish is 3rd in the ACC, and that's if VT falls apart in their last 3 games.
