Did Wilson and Jackson both get offers during camp and accept? There are strange rumors floating around that they are both verbals. Can anyone confirm or deny?
UPDATE: Checked out the Bucknuts and they seem to think this is the case. If true, welcome aboard boys. Congrats to them, theirs, and HH! Last edited by HINYG8; 06-25-2004 at 09:11 AM. |

There is a small mention on the OZone forum, but nothing on the front page.
The forum mention on the OZone is sourced from Bucknuts, so no collaboration there. I guess we will just have to wait for HH to get on line. |

Holton is listing Ohio State as one of his favorites and is quoted as saying Florida and Auburn lead but whoever offers him first will be his big leader. He should have come up with Wilson and Jackson. I'm the sure the staff would have wanted to evaluate 6'4", 221 pound TE who runs a 4.56 40. |

I guess we'll have to wait for confirmation, because nobody seems to know what HH's post really says on BN. If Wilson & Jackson are both Bucks, congrats to them. Holton looks like an intriguing prospect as well. We really don't have a TE recruit lined up in this class.

I think we take 2 QB's in this class. One to make up for Bauserman (Jackson) and another (hold out for Sanchez, if not bank it or see who is available). IMO it's nice to have a QB already committed. Now we can go hard after Sanchez, and if he turns us down at the 11th hour we already covered our asses. It's not like Jackson is somebody that Sanchez would be afraid of competing with.

2 QBs this class is too much. If take Hartline and Schlichter next year, that would give us 7 QBs on the roster for the 06' season-Zwick,Smith,Boeckman, 2 from this class, plus Hartline and Schlichter. That is called overkill..............

I think you are looking at a combination of 2/3 over the next two years. If in fact Jackson was offered/verballed, you don't know if it is at QB or WR. Certainly Sanchez and Schoenhoft are Elite 11 guys, but who knows whats on their mind. You might take all three of these guys, because certainly Jackson could be a WR, and if QB doesn't work out, Schoenhoft could play TE. So then, based on what happens with this group, and the guys already on scholarship, they will pick a number they think they need next year. It does seem awfully presumptuous that folks assume Hartline and Schlicter are a slam dunk duo. What if Hartline gets mad if his brother Brian gets snubbed. What if these guys don't live up to the per-junior hype. And, if they do live up to the hype, why does everyone think two really good QB's want to go to the same school? Because they are from Ohio? My guess is if they both reach that level, they will matriculate at different institutions.

I also agree that 7 is a lot, but right now four of those are 'in the bush' (will Hartline and Schlichter want to go to the same school?). If there are two that JT wants this year lets grab them and let next year take care of itself.
Also, this is the key year for QBs. We lose Zwick and Smith when the 2005 class will be redshirt Sophs. It would be nice to have at least two years in the program for the folks who will be backing up (or playing in front of?) Boeckman. (Sorry EdBuck... Great minds.) |
