Can anyone tell me if Petey recruited any of the OOS kids we've already got?
|
Per Insiders Wells had a USC offer.]

his family appreciates how genuine the OSU staff appears to be. Pete Carroll has his in-home visit next week.It is interesting to contrast those two statements. About this time last year Pete was flying to Toledo to let Davis know he was his number one guy. Not saying Davis isn't responsible for his own actions, but it would be tough for Pete to look Ms. Davis in the eye right now and say "Aren't you pleased with the way I took care of your (now suspended) son?"
Can Pete brag about the wonderful job he did of evaluating Davis' talent and projecting where he would fit in the USC offense?
I know you can throw some bricks at JT as well (Guillford, Irizarry) but in a process that rewards the 'used car salesman' approach I can live with a coach who sometimes loses these battles.

That really is a scary thought...

Agreed, but keep in mind I was merely summarizing the article as I went through it. The PC comment was made in passing, probably because the interview was done by an OSU Insiders reporter. There was an entire paragraph devoted to the OSU coaches...especially when Hazell and JT were in NY for the in-home visit.

TSteele- Actually, M. Wells was quoted in one of his updates as saying the reason USC had fallen behind OSU and GT was that "they had stopped calling him." So, I don't think your logic holds up. He basically indicated the initial reduction of interest came on the part of USC so he followed by dropping them.
P.S: Have to go now- tea at noon with a Mr. Newman.

USC's interest fell after wells officially visited there and did not elevate them on his list. wells indicated that he wasnt all that interested in USC after his visit.
if you want to go on the line as saying that usc backed off wells with no other rb offers on the table then fine, but that's not going to get you very far.

Not to highjack the thread but I have to comment on this....

The reason they stopped calling was basically that Maurice did not have that much of an interest in them and just prior to the Army game, USC was still trying to get back in the picture, so please don't paint the picture or imply that we were fortunate to Get Mo Wells because of USCs lack of interest. That is crazy.

If he is playing mind games with OSU then I wish him success at USC, I don't agree with your opinion on his last update but I am not close to the situation.

You've said that before and I believe you. If he is having fun, I just hope that when JG annouces his school he isn't disrespectful toward the school not chosen. I didn't like the whole Kevin Jones scene with Penn State.
