I hope this kid turns it around, college is certainly a major transition for many students, I think we should just wish the best for him and get off his back.

Did he expect all those in the same year??? Maybe that was his career goal!

Gwaltney won't play in Sugar Bowl

Jason Gwaltney's status with the West Virginia football team has not changed, and the record-setting running back from North Babylon will not play against Georgia in the Jan. 2 Sugar Bowl in Atlanta.
"He's not on the team," West Virginia coach Rich Rodriguez said on a Tuesday teleconference. "Until he has made a commitment to do the things he needs to do, he won't be on the team. He has not done them."
On Nov. 15, Gwaltney was suspended because the freshman missed classes, study halls and rehabilitation sessions. The freshman has not played since spraining his right knee on Oct. 8 against Rutgers.
Gwaltney has rushed for 186 yards on three touchdowns on 45 attempts and caught four passes for 15 yards while playing in six games this season.
Gwaltney holds the Long Island career record for rushing yards (7,800), touchdowns (135) and points (828). Last year, he led North Babylon to its first Class II Long Island title since 2002 before choosing West Virginia over Southern California and Ohio State.
Rodriguez did not indicate whether Gwaltney will transfer.
"He should be taking finals as far as I know," Rodriguez said. "I have not seen him."

Not a good sign for Jason. Damn I hope this drama does not find its way to Columbus.

I agree 44820. Here is another article, much of the same thing...
WVU Notebook: WVU suspends Gwaltney
Mozes cited by police for unnecessary noise
Wednesday, December 14, 2005
By Chuck Finder, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
Everybody's high-school All-America Jason Gwaltney, West Virginia's third-down running back until slowed by a knee injury halfway through the season, will be suspended for a third consecutive game when the Mountaineers head to Atlanta for the Jan. 2 Sugar Bowl.
Gwaltney, a ballyhooed freshman, may be missing for longer than that, too.
"Right now his status with the team -- he's not on the team," said Rich Rodriguez, coach of the 11th-ranked Mountaineers, yesterday on a pre-bowl conference call.
Gwaltney met with the coach a month ago and was informed he would miss the Pitt and South Florida games, regardless of the condition of his knee.
"Until he made a commitment to do things academically and off the field, he would be off the team. He has not done that yet," Rodriguez said.
Gwaltney rushed for 186 yards and scored three touchdowns.
Gwaltney and half-brother Scooter Berry signed letters of intent last February and came to West Virginia in August, but yesterday Rodriguez seemed unsure about Gwaltney's whereabouts: "He should be taking finals, as far as I know. I have not seen him."
