Insiders claims he's 6-2 190, 4.48. Anybody know his measurables from Nike camp?
Quote:
“I’ve talked with Miami Coach Cristobal on the phone and he told me what I needed to do like keep working hard,” Phillips said. “He told me that Miami is recruiting five defensive backs and they are going to take three of them. Along with me, they are looking at Demetrius Morley, Kenny Philips, Avery Atkins and a player from Ely. I saw Coach Lilly at the camp last week and he told me that he’s real impressed with me and he wants me up at their camp. I can tell that Miami and Florida State are on the verge of offering me, especially Florida State.”
What does he like about the Canes and Noles?
"Miami puts a lot playes in the NFL and it’s close to home,” he said. “Florida State is the same thing.”
Right now Phillips has some impressive offers, including Notre Dame, Ohio State, Connecticut, and FAU.
“My two favorites now are Ohio State and Notre Dame because they have offered,” he said. “I also like North Carolina State, Miami, Georgia, and Florida State.”

He will camp at FSU this summer.

Thanks Brutus!
Miami has told Randy that they wanted 3 of 4 from Randy Phillips, Kenny Phillips, Demetrice Morley, and Avery Atkins. So this is not unexpected. I would not be suprised if they get either Morley or Atkins to decommit from Florida and become a Cane (like Leggett last year). Atkins is already backtracking on his verbal.

Raiders' Phillips commits to UM
By Jorge Milian, Palm Beach Post Staff Writer
Wednesday, July 21, 2004
CORAL GABLES -- Glades Central defensive back Randy Phillips said Tuesday he has orally committed to the University of Miami.
Phillips becomes the third high school player to announce his intention to play for the Hurricanes. Oral commitments are not binding. High school players cannot officially sign a national letter of intent until the first Wednesday in February.
Phillips, who was a two-way player at Glades Central, said he will strictly play safety at UM. Phillips, who is 6-feet, 181 pounds, played running back and defensive back last season to help lead the Raiders to an 11-1 record.
"I wanted to secure my scholarship because that's where I want to be at," Phillips said about his decision to commit early. "I'm open to listening to other schools. It's a verbal commitment, but my heart is set on going to Miami."
Two of Phillips' teammates -- receiver Jessie Hester and defensive lineman/tight end Tommie Duhart -- also are considering UM.
