Wire to wire: Ten teams — Southlake (Texas) Carroll, Independence (Charlotte), Mission Viejo (Calif.), Hoover (Ala.), Poly (Long Beach, Calif.), Colerain (Cincinnati), Jenks (Okla.), Central Catholic (Pittsburgh), Camden County (Kingsland, Ga.) and Christian Brothers Academy (Syracuse, N.Y.) — appeared in all 16 of this season's Super 25 rankings.

Player of the week: Eugene Jarvis of No. 6 Central Catholic (Pittsburgh) rushed for 192 yards on 24 carries and scored five TDs during a 49-14 win vs. Neshaminy (Langhorne, Pa.) in the Class 4A final. Jarvis ran for 2,196 yards and scored 38 TDs this season.

Milestones: WR Mohamed Massaquoi of No. 2 Independence (Charlotte) set North Carolina single-season records for receiving yards (1,834) and TDs (32) and career marks for yards (4,876) and TDs (76).

Extra points: Evangel Christian Academy (Shreveport, La.) stopped a two-point conversion with 28 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter of the Class 5A final, preserving a 21-20 victory over West Monroe (14-1). ECA (11-3) won its third state title in four years, and fourth in six, all coming against West Monroe. ... Cory Reamer of No. 4 Hoover (Ala.) was named MVP of the Class 6A final. Reamer blocked two punts, returning one for a 12-yard TD in a 22-7 win over Prattville.

I still have a hard time believing there are 4 better teams than the Cardinals. I guess it is another poll where preseason rankings come into play.
