Running Back Commitments
Why are we having such a hard time getting "top flight running backs" to commit? I would think that OSU has what these players want most:
1. To play right away - Our two main RBs (Hall and Ross) are seniors and OSU probably has the least depth at running back of any school in the country. OSU has a good track record of playing freshman. In recent years several RBs have played as a freshman. Unfortunately one of them got suspended his sophomore year, but that's another story.
2. They want to play for a winner and go to a bowl - OSU qualifies
3. They want to play for a national championship - OSU won it in 2002 and should be a legitimate contender in 2005.
4. They want individual recognition - Only ND has won more Heisman trophies
5. They want to play in the NFL - OSU set a record last year with the most players drafted (since the NFL went to seven rounds).
I would think that they would be lining up begging for a scholarship!!! What do you think is the problem?

I think the problem is you think OSU is having a problem getting top flight guys. Mo C was top flight
Lydell was top flight
Mo Hall was top flight
Hell, Maldanado was supposedly a real coup
Pittman and Haw.. you want to give them back?
Mo Wells is top flight (assuming he ends up here)
Gwaltney is another top notch back
And in 06 OSU lands Chris Wells.
So OSU didn't get Adrian Peterson or Reggie Bush or such... so what. USC didn't get Eddie George. Oklahoma never had the services of Archie Griffin.
Relax

Were is all the sky is falling posts coming from?!?! didn't we just dominate a good team in our bowl game??? seems like ever time I read a new post lately it is about needing to recruit better, or replacing JT, or how Smith is god, or.... you get the point..
Can't we all just enjoy a thorough ass kicking like we saw last night?

DC - exactly.
OSU in its last two games has been on the giving end of the fryingpan across the forehead. Lets hope that keeps up in 05

We are not really having a problem at all. We don't have one yet this year, but if Wells and Gwaltney commit, then people will be saying "Why does tOSU always get the top flight backs?" Think about it though. We still should have Clarett. He should be a Jr this year dominating the rest of the country. However, he was an ass, so he didn't pan out real well. Pittman was a 4* by Rivals standards and I think Haw was severely underrated. He has great size and 4.3 (maybe sub 4.3) speed.

We also can't get any other offensive weapons because of our conservative offense!! (Think Smith, Zwick, Ginn, Holmes, Hall, Gonzalez, Hamby, Nicol, Pittman, Haw, Lyons, etc., etc., etc.).
I really think we will be just fine. Tress knows what he's doing and the future (if it's anything like the last two games) looks pretty bright in my world!!
