Michigan OL Recruiting
It just ticks me off. They just got a verbal from Marques Slocum, Rivals #1 OL, and now Michigan has verbals from #1, 10, 11, and 12 OL in the country...that's four out of the top 12 OL in the land. They do this crap year after year after year...

Many think Slocum is a DT. But overall I agree about their oline recruiting.

Getting the kind of OL class every year than Michigan does will make it a lot easier to keep going 3-1 every four years against them...could get us to 4-0.
By the way, this thread is in no way a slam against this year's OL class of ours.

they have excellent coaching and put a lot of guys in the pros.
ratings/rankings arent everything either, though their line is usually tough.

Ticks me off too. But not as much as all of our home grown Ohio boys they get to go up there. I can not imagine why anyone from OH-IO would even think of going there. I hope Chris Wells doesn't follow them up.

scUM-North has been doing this for years (getting 3-4 stud OL in almost every class). For a long time (esp. during the Cooper years) they had an advantage over us with OL men. Stringer and Pace were our few studs compared to the waves of good Michigan linemen (Jansen, Runyan, Williams, Hutchinson, Backus, etc.) Luckily for us, Tressel has shored up this weakness by recruiting stud OL men every year he's been here, and we will start to see the results with this coming season. Heck, the fact we had 3 OL from last year's graduating class now playing regularly in the NFL is testament to Tressel's commitment to the OL. He also believes in getting 3-4 OL in every class (which is how you build up depth) and then redshirting them every year so that when they're required to play they're well-conditioned and know the blocking schemes. Now, our OL coaching has been suspect the last 2 years, but that could also be due to the fact that Tressel and Bollman have not had "their guys" until now. I think we'll start to see markedly improved play from our OL this season onwards.
