Fiesta Bowl Advice.
Coming from someone in AZ, don't book hotels in Phoenix. Stay in Mesa. It is right next to Phoenix.

I purchased tickets right after the Michigan win.I figured if we didnt go to the Fiesta I would sell them on Ebay.I paid 375 each for 5th row upper deck at the 30 yardline.
Anybody else from Las Vegas heading down to the game?Maybe we can meet up and head down in group. When I drove down for the National Championship game some Miami fans passed me in northen Arizona on an onramp after getting gas screaming and yelling at us.They must not have had a map because a few miles down the road they turned left towards the Grand Canyon.I wonder how long it took for them to realize their mistake?LOL! |

Sorry if this is in the wrong place (didn't see an official ND thread), and pardon me if this has already been talked about somewhere, but:
I read this at THIS SITE OSU athletic director Gene Smith played for Ara Parseghian and Dan Devine at Notre Dame in the '70s. Quinn's sister dates Ohio State linebacker A.J. Hawk, the Big Ten's Defensive Player of the Year. Now that's just downright unfair!!! lol... Quinn's SISTER?!? Do you think she would ever forgive him if he did what he did to that Oklahoma State QB last year (you knw, with him rolling on the ground for a couple minutes after an AJ sack)? Oh this just bites lol... I mean, if Bobby Carpenter is out, and its just Schegel and Hawk... who do you think they are going to send on a pass rush? But maybe I'm jumping to conclusions here... I did hear Hawk grew up fighting, and his mom loves to see him hit... so family and tradition will probably hold more instinctual value than his gf... ugh, I don't like it though... ![]() ![]() |

Hopefully the Fiesta Bowl won't seem like a ND home game:
Irish receive 45,589 requests for Fiesta Bowl tickets Associated Press <TABLE cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=0 width="100%" border=0><TBODY><TR><TD vAlign=top><!-- begin leftcol --><!-- template inline -->SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Notre Dame has received 45,589 ticket requests for the Jan. 2 Fiesta Bowl game against Ohio State and school officials believe they've never had more. John Heisler, senior associate athletic director, said the school doesn't keep records for ticket demand. But the Fighting Irish have played in 26 bowls and no one can remember such demand. By comparison, when the Irish went to the Fiesta Bowl following the 2000 season, the school received 22,000 ticket requests. Fewer than 12,500 tickets are available for alumni, season ticket holders, students' parents, faculty and staff. The school was allotted 15,000 tickets, and 2,500 were sold to students last week. Some of the tickets also will go to university officials. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/bowls0...ory?id=2256881 </TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE> |

Considering this our 3rd time out of 4 years in Tempe, I think our ticket demand is outstanding. Notre Dame's ticket demand isn't that much higher than ours, who has the national following again??
Irish, Buckeyes fans eager for a warm Fiesta Jim Gintonio The Arizona Republic Dec. 26, 2005 12:00 AM <!--______START TEXT OF STORY________--> Notre Dame and Ohio State fans will follow their teams anywhere, and Arizona has been a popular destination for both schools in recent years. When the teams meet in the Jan. 2 Fiesta Bowl, it will be Ohio State's third trip to Sun Devil Stadium in four years, and Notre Dame's third stop in the Valley in five years. The ho-hum factor should be setting in, right? <!-- BOXAD TABLE --><TABLE cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=0 width=50 align=left border=0><TBODY><TR><TD style="COLOR: gray" vAlign=top align=middle>advertisement</TD><TD rowSpan=3> </TD></TR><TR><TD><SCRIPT ********************>OAS_AD('BoxAd')</SCRIPT> </TD></TR><TR><TD> </TD></TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE><!-- END BOX AD TABLE -->Not a chance. Each school has an allotment of 15,000 tickets, and that wasn't even close to the number of fans clamoring for seats: Notre Dame had almost 46,000 requests, and 35,000 Ohio State fans wanted tickets. "The demand has been unbelievable," said Shawn Schoeffler, the Fiesta Bowl's vice president of media relations. "I don't think we've ever had ticket requests like this before. I think the reason is the history of the schools and the fact that they haven't played each other many times. |

Just for people's information (not sure if this has been talked about elsewhere or not).
There were hundreds of tickets available for BELOW face value about an hour or two before gametime from scalpers. I've never seen a scalping situation like that before in my life. One guy in our party ended up being sick and we sold a 50 yard line seat for $50. People laughed at us when we were asking $200 earlier in the day. (btw the guy who purchased the ticket turned out to be a scalper and never resold the seat). I never would have imagined so many tickets would be available at the game... |
