Illinois, UC, Notre Dame, and Kentucky have been showing the most interest towards Josh, but Ohio State, Dayton, Xavier, Boston College, Iowa, Michigan, Pittsburgh, Purdue, and West Virginia are also in the picture. Tubby Smith was in to visit him and the Illinois staff has made an impression. However, Josh stated that if an offer from tOSU comes, they would be on his short list. He does want to play basketball and football in college.

Josh is waiting for an football offer from OSU, he could join the BB team at no cost so to speak for Matta. According to Josh, Matta has ensured him that he would be a "viable" part of the BB team if he comes to OSU on a football scholie.

Illinois, Kentucky, Notre Dame, Purdue, Pittsburgh are recruiting him the hardest. Josh has contact with OSU and they keep him updated on the situation. He has no favorite and says every school is equal at this point.

(The chances of Chichester ending up at OSU is clearly up to Tressel at this point, I believe he will possibly offer Josh a scholie at the OSU camp, this would be huge for the basketball program to get a player of his caliber and not use a BB scholie.)

From Bucknuts...Josh has received three new football offers: Akron, UNC and Michigan State. Auburn and LSU has also expressed interest. WVU is also expected to send a written offer.

Josh playing in the Louisville Legends Classic on Saturday played very tough on the boards and kept his team in the game on put backs but, the Illinois Wolves defeated All-Ohio Red. He showed he can run the floor and is very athletic.

Josh is weighing around 214 pounds. He has offers from North Carolina, Illinois, Purdue, Notre Dame just to name a few but he says he is waiting on Ohio State. He has not heard from Coach Matta lately. Josh is not sure what camps he will attend. He says he is leaning towards Illinois at this point but if OSU offered that could change.

Ohio was well represented in the initial listing of Scout.com's National Hot 100 survey of college football prospects. The list features five Ohio players in the top 50, led by top running back choice Chris Wells of Akron Garfield (and Ohio State) at No. 3 overall. Click here for more.

An unprecedented 13 Ohio prospects are part of Scout.com’s initial National Hot 100 ranking of college football prospects.

The network released the list today, pegging Myron Rolle, a defensive back from Princeton (N.J.) The Hun School, as the nation’s No. 1 overall prospect.

Akron Garfield running back Chris Wells, an Ohio State verbal, is ranked as the nation’s No. 3 overall prospect.

Other Ohio prospects in the national top 50 include Cincinnati Colerain offensive lineman Connor Smith (No. 21), Pickerington North offensive lineman Justin Boren (26, Michigan verbal), Columbus Brookhaven wide receiver Jeff Cumberland (36) and Euclid linebacker Thaddeus Gibson (47).

Eight more Ohio prospects are included in the second 50. They are Coldwater linebacker Ross Homan (55, Ohio State verbal), West Chester Lakota West wide receiver Josh Chichester (60), Springfield South offensive lineman Lee Tilley (66), Springboro tight end Jake Ballard (68, Ohio State verbal), Cincinnati Princeton offensive lineman Aaron Brown (73), Clayton Northmont cornerback Kurt Coleman (81, Ohio State verbal), Cleveland Glenville wide receiver Ray Small (82) and Cincinnati Colerain linebacker Cobrani Mixon (84).

In addition to the four OSU verbals, Smith, Gibson, Brown, Small and Mixon are believed to have OSU offers. Chichester attended OSU’s Senior Advanced Camp this past Saturday.

With five verbals on the list, Texas is the only school with more verbals in the initial top 100 than OSU. Georgia checks in with three.

Wells, a 6-1, 220-pound bruiser who rushed for just shy of 2,000 yards as a junior, is the highest rated player to already commit. He edged out Pennsylvania’s LeSean McCoy (ranked 11th overall nationally) for the top spot among running backs.

Let me get this straight...we would have to use a football schollie on him, and he would then 'walk-on' the basketball team? Have we offered or shown much interest? Sounds like Matta would welcome him, and he would make a tall, athletic WR.

Josh Chichester will make his formal college commitment on Friday July 1st at 1:00 p.m. in the Lakota West Library. His final five choices in alphabetical order are Illinois, Louisville, Michigan, Notre Dame and Ohio State. He spent camp days at Michigan and Ohio State. He has informally visited the other schools. Josh is regarded as one of top three wide receivers in the state and has many offers in both football and basketball. He is also listed as one of the top 20 basketball prospects in the state of Ohio. All schools that have offered Josh a scholarship have also given him the option of playing both sports at their respective schools.

Chichester will announce tomorrow his decision to attend OSU for bball and football. He will play WR in the Shoe and PF/C in the Schott.

Josh Chichester is a Buckeye!

The best part about Chichester is he would add another player to the 06 class without using up a schollie (giving us the chance to land 7 in 06)... and he would also be around for a while in case Cook, Oden, and to a lesser extent Lighty/Conley take off early. This also would not keep us from offering Jamil Tucker or Raymar Morgan as they play a different position.

I see him as a good role player on Matta's team and a good possession WR in college like Purdue's very tall WR.
