'06 TN SF Thaddeus Young (Georgia Tech Verbal)

I am a student at UNC chapel Hill and I heard thaddeus young is visiting here soon. Does anyone know when he is visiting? I am a hardcore buckeyes fan (from columbus), despite going to unc, and i want Young to go to OSU. So, i want to see him on campus and give him some advice....hehe

I have not heard when he is visiting North Carolina on an official visit. The feeling I get is that recruiting is not his #1 concern at the moment.

He feels we have the recruiting momentum with Young and its possible we could land him.

Let me be completely clear for those of you, who are not familiar with Young.....the scoop on him is that right now he is not focusing on visits and has had North Carolina the leader for some time now, with that said, Matta has done an outstanding job of just getting him to come to OSU for a visit. As far as I know, he has not taken any official visits and this would be his first. As of right now Young is trying to work out the details for a visit this weekend, but it is not set in stone as of today. Our odds are about 30% right now, if you get him on campus with the other top prospects......your guess is as good as mine. Matta has been able to make quite an impression on Young this late in the recruiting stage, its almost unbelievable to get a prospect like Young to visit OSU because historically its been hard to get those types of players out of the south.

Nice pics. Young is without a doubt a player I'd really love to see join this astounding class. As I posted on Sucknuts earlier today, if we can nab Conley and Oden this weekend (which IMO looks very promising) then we can start having the Spiece boys call up Young and letting him know the Fab 4 has been assembled and is waiting for their 5th fabulous player!

Matta and Cook have done a tremendous job so far, I can't wait to see how this all unfolds!

From BSB...Thaddeus will not be visiting this weekend due to AAU workouts. That does not mean that a visit is out of the question though. He is obviously much more focused on improving his game at this point, as opposed to recruiting. Young is interested in business school. He is not however caught up in the idea of the "Thad 5". He will make a decision based on what is best for him, with academics being a high priority.

Nothing new on a possible visit to OSU at this point. Spiece Indy Heat (Oden, Conley, Cook) will play against Thaddeus Young and his team Memphis Pump and Run on Saturday at the May Classic in Indiana.

UConn Recruiting

Thaddeus is a 6'8" 205 pound small forward from Memphis,
Tennessee. He attends Mitchell High School.

Young is the #2 ranked small forward and the #7 ranked
prospect overall by Rivals Hoops.

Young, a lanky left hander, is very good driving to the basket
and plays very strong in the post. He is a terrific athlete who is
becoming a consistent perimeter shooter. He has range out to
the three point line.

Young is an outstanding student who holds a 4.3 GPA (out of
4.0) by taking honors classes. He is also a member of the math
honors society. He would like to attend a college with a good
business school and would like to play for an up tempo team.

Young was named the Memphis player of the year as a
sophomore as well as first team all state. He is averaging 22
points, 14 rebounds, 5 assists, 4 steals and 4 blocks per game
this season.

Young has nearly every high major powerhouse recruiting him,
including UConn. He likely will not narrow down his list until
after the season. He is also a candidate to enter the NBA draft
out of high school in 2006.

I like the thought here, but this is college, now. Don't you think this math is a bit easy for these fellows. How about this:

The success of the Buckeye team over the next five years will be a derivative of the area under the learning curves of several integral players. It would be fair to say that the limit of the potential of this team is infinite as the basis approaches five (Oden, Conley, Cook, lighty, and Young). A differential equation for success will be required when working with these five unique dimensions.

Great student athlete. Historically speaking, Thaddeus isn't the type of recruit we have been able to sway in the past unfortunately. This is a new era with Matta at the helm so let's hope all that changes.

At this point with Young, I think we are a longshot at best. If Matta is able to get an official visit, our chances improve greatly and if Oden and Conley verbal, things could change with Young real quick.

An excellent kid with outstanding talent, he would be a great addition to the OSU program.
