Tucker is a very good outside shooter. Tucker is now playing with the Spiece Indy Heat. He is a native of California. Big wing with an excellent handle. Will knock down 3s but that's an area he can gain consistency. Nice athlete and natural scorer.

Arizona, Michigan, Indiana, Michigan State, Purdue and Wisconsin have offered. He is also listing Illinois, Kansas, Louisville and UCLA.

Ohio State is reportedly showing interest and recruiting him at this point, recently going down to the Kingwood tournament and watching him play.

RIVALS.COM$ UPDATE 4/24/05

Tucker said Indiana, Purdue and Ohio State are recruiting him at the current time. The Buckeyes were in the gym watching him as well as his teammates.

Jamil averaged 24.1 points, 9.1 rebounds and 5.1 assists in his junior season. Recently played on Spiece Indy Heat in Arkansas with Oden and Conley. Tucker has torn a ligament in his finger and is out for about two weeks. Tucker says Purdue, Ohio State and Indiana are his top schools.

For those that have seen him play, is his game remeniscent of Grant Hill, because those look like some pretty impressive all around numbers for a PF/SF?

Per BN....lamb thinks OSU will continue to evaluate Tucker this summer and then decide wether to offer. One factor could be the progress of Raymar Morgan.

<!--All Star Team Logo New--><!--All Star Team Logo New--> PENDLETON, Ind. -- It had all the trappings of a typical casual All-Star exhibition. A midweek game with lots of autographs, smiles, and dunks in warm-ups. However, somehow that message was lost after the first tip went in the air. First because there would be three more such tips as it took triple overtime to decide this one...

If the All-Star game officials designed these exhibitions with the Juniors in an effort to test the Seniors, consider it mission accomplished. Unlike most All-Star affairs where fancy passes create oohs, and wide open lanes end with crowd pleasing dunking ahhs, every bucket on this night was contested.

<!--Start Relieved Bench SS Long Image--><SCRIPT ********************>document.write(insertImage('ht tp://vmedia.rivals.com/uploads/938/246638.JPG', '246638.JPG', 0, 171, 390, 1, 'The Senior All-Star coaches and players finally sense relief in the closing moments of the third and final overtime.', '', 1119421474000, 'Relieved Bench SS Long', 938, 'Align=Left'));</SCRIPT><TABLE cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=0 width=398 align=left border=0><TBODY><TR><TD width=392></TD><TD width=6 rowSpan=3></TD></TR><TR><TD height=3></TD></TR><TR><TD align=middle>The Senior All-Star coaches and players finally sense relief in the closing moments of the third and final overtime.</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE><!-- End Relieved Bench SS Long Image-->Aren't All-Stars supposed to conduct themselves like primadonas? Although primadonas aren't usually diving on the floor in groups of four or five fighting for loose balls. And coaches? Aren't these sorts of games just for show? Coach Joe Buck was on the floor repeatedly, once even crossing the center court to protest a call. There was a moment when this old corner thought I might see my first ejection in a Jr/Sr game.

No, this was a classic from start to end, and to make matters even interesting, I was able to enjoy the whole affair sitting among a dozen or so Varsity Club members.

Approximately 2000 other diehard fans packed a fire pit of a gym to see Lapel's Jason Holsinger bomb his way to a team high 22 points on 7 of 8 timely shots from beyond the arc. More backcourt fireworks for the Seniors came from LN's Brandon McPherson with 18, and Richmond's Dominic James starring with 17. Mr. Baskeball, Washington's Luke Zeller added 15 points and 7 rebounds.

For the Juniors it was a dominant front court that grabbed the attention of the nets. Lawrence North's Greg Oden powered his way to a game high 29, which included one thundering dunk that nearly brought the entire basket rigging down. Andrean's Luke Harangody and Gary West's Jamil Tucker also combined for 19 rebounds.

The Juniors were able to take a 5 point edge into halftime, but a 47 point second half outburst by the Seniors forced the first OT. The Seniors finally pulled away 16-9 in the final extra period for the win, 118-111. In the girls contest the Seniors methodically pulled away from their Junior counterparts, 91-77, Corydon's Dana Beaven topped the Seniors with 14, while Junior Northfield's Courtney Reed had a game high 19. Next up for the All-Stars is a trip to Richmond High School for another exhibition with the Juniors Thursday, June 23.

Upside may be bigger then Harangody or Morgan in college. He's got better height and can hit the 3..... could be around 240 when it's all said and done. The fact that he let it be known that OSU is out in front tells me that he pretty much knows where Oden is headed and wants to be a part of something special at OSU.We'll see ,but things look good for OSU to get the Indiana trio.

He plays on the Spiece Indy team right? Could we haul in the whole squad? Conley, Cook, Gordon ('07), Pogue ('07), Oden and Tucker.

Everybody remembers the analogies form the SAT's right?

I think I got some goodies here, check em' out.

http://louisville.scout.com/2/379266.html -scout.com May 05'

http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaab/news?slug=citadel-2_377842_145&prov=citadel&type=story_recruiting- -Luke Harangody on Tuckers game -scroll down a bit.

Jamil Tucker (6'9" SF, Gary (IN) West HS) With his size and skills, he oozes potential and showed some of it in helping his team to the final. He's athletic and shot it well from mid-range and long range, while also handling it well and getting out in transition. He had 21 points in their semifinal win, but just 12 in the championship game. High-major/big-time prospect.
-Hoopville.com

The haters continue to come out the woodworks in regards to Jamil Tucker. The West Side High standout continues to get better even though he has only been playing ball for three years. The HoopSide has stated and will state again that people are going to respect this kid. He will be one of the best players to ever play in the Region

-Indiana Basketball news -March 05'

*I might add that the spiece indy heat roster has him at 6'9 235 right now.

I have no doubt that his game is only going to get better as he gets more aggressive and playing with Oden (Hopefully) at OSU his confidence will soar.
Must get!!!!!!! See Ya

Rivals.com scouting reports from the Kingwood Classic.

Indiana kids have a good crowd

Herb Sendek and Mike Brey slid in to watch the SYF Players out of Indiana sneak by the South Carolina Ravens in overtime. And Jamil Tucker can probably expect a couple of phone calls to his AAU coach and high school coach next week. Jamil, get to know your mail man, too.

The 6-foot-8 small forward from Gary, Ind., is a rare breed for a kid his size. He's got a knack for putting the ball on the floor and attacking the basket but what makes him even more intriguing is the fact that he can pull up for a silky smooth jump shot. There aren't a lot of guys his size that can handle and shoot like he does. Tucker said Indiana, Purdue and Ohio State are recruiting him at the current time.

Tucker scored 21 points in SYF's upset win over the D-1 Greyhounds and put in 11 points and grabbed 6 rebounds during the championship game.Tucker is an enigma in the fact that he has an athletic body and natural endurance, only briefly coming out of the game in both the semis and finals. It appears that he is learning to spend less time hanging out behind the three point line and not coming up with rebounds or defending with intensity. In flashes Tucker will attack the basket with the dribble or defend with intensity. If he would play with that type of effort on a more consistent basis, like his teammate Harangody who plays to exhaustion, hits the bench and then plays again to exhaustion, Tucker could be a five-star player.

Luke Harangody and Jamil Tucker could be part of a basketball power at Ohio State, and Tucker said the decision of other star players to join that school could impact his selection.

The Indianapolis Star reported Lawrence North teammates Greg Oden — the USA Today National Player of the Year — and Mike Conley were planning to verbally commit to Ohio State.

The pair of players, who have won two straight Class 4A state championships, will make an official announcement on Wednesday.

Tucker said Oden’s and Conley’s decision has put Ohio State at the top of his list.

“It helps, knowing they’ll be there. It makes it easier going there. And I still do want to go there,” said Tucker, who plays with Oden and Conley on their Spiece Indy Heat AAU team and was offered a scholarship by the Buckeyes.

Harangody didn’t feel as strongly about Oden’s and Conley’s choice, but said Ohio State could become a national power.

“That really has no effect on my decision, but I wouldn’t mind playing with those guys,” Harangody said. “We talked about going to Ohio State together and about coach (Thad) Matta’s vision, but I don’t think it will have any effect on my decision.”

Harangody, the Post-Tribune Player of the Year after averaging 23.2 points, 12.3 rebounds and 1.0 blocks per game as a junior, said he did not know when he would make a final decision. Ohio State, Purdue, Indiana, Notre Dame and Northwestern have offered scholarships to the 6-foot-7 center.

West Side coach John Boyd said he hopes Tucker will choose a school by the end of July. Indiana, Arizona, San Jose State, USC and Miami are among the several schools that have offered a scholarship to Tucker, a 6-9 guard/forward who averaged 18.6 ppg, 8.7 rpg and 4.7 apg for the regional-champion Cougars. Tucker said Purdue is not on his list of schools.

“(Regarding Ohio State), there were some things on the table a while ago, but he’s got a number of schools looking at him now,” Boyd said. “He and his family are going to come to a decision.”
Oden, a center, is the only other junior besides LeBron James to win the National Player of the Year award, while Conley is considered one of the nation’s top point guards. Oden had been considered a possible No. 1 pick in the NBA draft until the implementation a league rule change last week requiring players to be at least one year out of high school to be drafted.
