34 rec. 796 yds 13 TD as junior in 2004. All-Ohio Honorable Mention and Cuyahoga County First Team selection. Along with Cle. St. Ignatius teammate QB Rudy Kirbus, supposedly invited to OSU for unofficial visit first weekend of February. U of M also high on the radar screen.

Audio Clip of Kirbus to Parris 60 yd TD hook up:

Just watched the Kirbus - Parris clips on Bucknuts. Wow.

I discounted Kirbus somewhat, because QBs always look good on a receiver's clips. All the passes on the tape are completions. But the same is not true of receivers. They all make their catches, of course, but some make them a lot more impressively than others. Parris impressed. He really blew me away.

He looks like he's got super-glue on his finger tips. He caught ball after ball in traffic, often having to sky high to make the catch. He really makes optimum use of every inch of his 6'4". I'm not surprised that Ferentz has offered him at Iowa. Before it's all said and done, I expect he'll get offers from more than a few OSU competitors. Just hope he changes uniform colors at the next level. I'd hate to see him wearing that ugly blue and yellow for the next four years.

Here is what I took from the 2 clips of QB Kirbus and WR Parris from Cleveland St. Ignatius recently added to Bucknuts:

Kirbus strengths: Good height and build. Showed fantastic touch on his deep balls. Is able to thread the needle across the middle. Steps up well in the pocket. Possesses decent balls skills on his play-action fakes. Played against top-flight competiton. Is a solid athlete, demonstrated by his success on the basketball court.

Kirbus weaknesses: Has a long throwing motion, where he "windmills" his arms to throw. Holds the ball too low on his drop backs. Occasionally will throw off his back foot which causes his passes to hang up too much. Although it was a Kirbus-Parris highlight tape, seems to focus too much on Parris rather than scan the field.

Overall, I think he will be a great prospect with a little seasoning. Adjusting his technique over the summer at camps will be critical. If he shortens his throwing motion and shows good velocity on his short-to intermediate routes, the offers should start coming quick.

Parris strengths: Good height at 6'4". Has tremendous hands. Is able and willing to catch the ball in traffic, especially over the middle. Capable of making the circus catch. Uses his size to his advantage.

Parris weaknesses: Despite making numerous big plays on film, does not show the ability to shake defenders and create big yards after catch. Most of his big plays did not require breaking down defenders and big runs after catch. Routes are not super sharp and tends to round alot of routes, thus allowing defenders to stay somewhat close. Has long strides so speed is deceptive, but straight line speed is a questionmark.

Overall, I think he should be among the top 3 receivers in the state based on hands alone. Has offers from BC, Iowa, and Miami OH to date, but I think a good 40 time at summer camps (probably mid 4.5 range) could garner bigger offers.

Parris is long with great hands. I was very impressed with him in 2004 and I expect the Kirbus-Parris combo to be much stronger this year. Ignatius is always among the elite in Ohio and 2005 won't be any different.

Rob liked his visit to Notre Dame. Notre Dame wants to see some film of Parris in a full game, not a highlight tape. Parris lists, in no particular order, Notre Dame, Michigan, Iowa, Ohio State and Boston College as his favorites.

For what its worth, Parris ran a 14.7 in the 110 hurdles and posted a 20+ foot long jump at the Lancaster Relays this past weekend. As a point of reference, the 8th place time at last year's state meet was 14.69.

According to Duane Long, recruiting editor for Ohio High Magazine, Parris is the 31st ranked prospect in Ohio. Teammates John Ryan and Rudy Kirbus are ranked 16 and 24, respectively.

Long's analysis: "Parris is a smooth and graceful athlete who looked really good this season. His basketball background shows up when it comes to making catches as he attacks the ball at it's highest point and uses his hands, not his body, to make catches.
Parris is an explosive leaper. He has a game like Iowa recruit Trey Stross, who came out of Avon Lake last year. The level of competition at which Parris plays is much better though. Sometimes 40 times are overrated, but receiver is one position where I think it is crucial. If he runs a 4.5 or better, this ranking is way too low."
