Woodland Hills wide receiver Wes Lyons told Ohio State coaches he didn't want to compete with his brother, Devon, for playing time. The Buckeyes solved that problem by moving Devon to free safety. Wes Lyons has visited Ohio State, Boston College and West Virginia, and might take trips to Miami and Louisville next month.

I'd heard this floating around, but I don't know whether there is any truth to the rumor. Devon is still listed in the Rivals recruiting data bank as a safety, but he made it pretty clear during his recruitment that he wanted to play WR. He could be an excellent safety, but his build (tall and lean) seems more suited for WR. Coach Tressel moves kids around a lot, and I'm sure that Devon would consider a change of position (a) to help the team, and/or (b) to get more playing time.

That being said, I'm not sure that Devon and the staff would contemplate a position change for the sole purpose of making his brother more amenable to Ohio State. I'm not even sure that it would be a factor in any such decision.

If Devon was good enough to see the field as a true freshman at WR, i highly doubt the coaches are now moving him to Safety, that just doesnt make much since to me...

That's the comparison that came to mind for me as well Mili... Also, I remember Devon being rated as the #12 Safety by Scout, and I believe #7 on Rivals, so some thought he'd end up there anyways.
I would think that this would definitely help bring Wesley on board...

But if we do get him in as a safety and really stick with our word, I'm not so sure that is the best idea. With Coleman and Schwartz already verballed and so much depth at safety already, he wouldn't be needed anywhere but at WR.
