Fields is trying to get his academics in order, he will take the SAT in December. Penn State, Tennessee, and Ohio State are waiting on results before deciding to offer. Fields will possibly visit Ohio State after his season is over.

Fields has been listing tOSU for awhile now. Were he to get his grades in order, I like our chances. The kid is a tremendous athlete.

How's this for a wow Stat.... He has 23 touchdowns on the season and he avaerages over 50 yards per touchdown!!!!!!! Yikes

Duquesne is a smaller school in the WPIAL, but they play some decent competition. Today will be a really really really good measuring stick for him as they play power Rochester. Speaking of which,Rochester has a 6'5 burner that plays QB, WR, RB for them that can run like the wind. I am trying to get some more info on his as I think he is only a Junior.

Duquesne defeated Rochester, 14-6 to win the District 7 crown, Fields had 4 catches for 42 yards and a TD.

Fields and Duquesne defeated Windber 18-0 to advance to the Class A Semifinals against Coudersport. Elijah had eight rushes for 75 yards and caught three balls for 61 yards and a touchdown.

A friend of mine went to the game and got some pics, once I get them I will post them. I was not so hot on Fields at first but this kid is just amazing. I do wish he played in a larger division though to get a better read.

According to this article from the Pitt site, Fields has recently picked up an offer from tOSU. His team is still in the playoffs, so he hasn't set up any visits yet.

If this is true, then I would say that it would put us very close to the top of his list. He's spoken very highly of tOSU for a long time now...

i'm wondering if its a conditional offer, if he has the grades then he can have an offer. If he does qualify he'd be a huge steal from PA.

scout.com has him as a 4* #12 safety. Rivals has him as a 2* player.

I don't get overly enamoured with the star rating system. You just have to wonder how the two services could be so far apart on one player. The simple fact that he was a 1000 yard receiver with 26 td's scored 6 different ways would make me think that rivals needs to upgrade him.

Well maybe with the new standards that seem to be not as stringent we will be able to give him a harder look than we originally thought.

I would love to bring him in as a WR/S.

i thought that at first as well. however, last year callahan bright had no chance of qualifying and he was still a top rated player. there are a ton of kids this year that are dangerously close to not qualifying, and they are all highly rated.

IMO, if fields had the exact same academics and exact same stats playing against identical competition in florida or texas, rivals would have him as a 4*.

That is the key right there... Rivals is notorious for paying attention to the big 3 (CA, FL, TX) when it comes to their rankings. I think the scout staff outworks them when it comes to ranking and reviewing #'s of prospects. Scout's problem is that they are just so slow at updating things. Rivals does always have lots of video posted though, which is a plus.
