Glenville 36, Collinwood 12

Arvell Nelson passed for 213 yards and three touchdowns to lead the No. 1-ranked Tarblooders (3-0) in their Senate Athletic League opener.

Glenville was leading, 14-12, in the second half when Nelson helped the Tarblooders pull away with touchdown passes of 21 yards to Bryant Milligan and 66 yards to Raymond Small. Milligan had four catches for 55 yards and two TDs. Small, who also scored a rushing touchdown, caught three passes for 85 yards. Linebacker Gino Sturdivant had eight solo tackles, one assist and a sack.

The Tarblooders scored 34 second-quarter points to put the Golden Scarabs away in a Senate Athletic League game at John Marshall.
Two of the Tarblooders' five second-quarter touchdowns came on Bryant Milligan receptions from Arvell Nelson.
Glenville (4-0) forced five turnovers, including four when East Tech (2-2) was in the red zone.

Glenville vs. Warren Harding

What, when, where: Nonleague game, 7:30 p.m. at Mollenkopf Stadium, 860 Elm Road NE, Warren. Call 330-841-2316.

Records: Glenville, 4-0; Harding 1-3.

What to watch: The area's top-ranked team will be out to avenge last season's last- minute 30-26 loss to Harding when Mario Manningham intercepted an Arvell Nelson pass for a 50-yard touchdown. Manningham is now a University of Michigan freshman, but Nelson is back and primed to redeem himself. After all, that loss was the Tarblooders' lone regular-season setback. Glenville has been nothing short of phenomenal and for good reason. The Tarblooders are big on the lines and have some of the state's fastest athletes at the skilled positions like two-way players Raymond Small, Raymond Fisher, Daven Jones and St. Edward transfer Royce Adams. University School transfer Bryant Milligan has given Glenville depth at WR/S, TB Bruce Frieson has fulfilled the role he inherited and another John Marshall transfer, Alex Bonilla, is a dependable placekicker. However, DE Deonte Williams and T Brandon McCray are questionable. Williams has a hip pointer and McCray twisted his knee. Strongsville's victory over Harding proved the Raiders' run defense is suspect. Harding has decent speed on the other side of the ball thanks to athletic QB Avery Qualls, but the offense is built around talented TB Dan Herron.

No. 1 Glenville 58, Cleveland East 6

Quarterback Arvell Nelson threw four touchdown passes, and Bruce Frieson ran for four more scores as the Tarblooders cruised to another Senate Athletic League victory.

Glenville (6-0) led, 41-0, at halftime in the game played at Patrick Henry.

Nelson completed 9 of 13 passes for 176 yards. Frieson ran for 206 yards on 11 carries.

East, which avoided being shut out by scoring on Edward Iverson's 65-yard fumble recovery in the fourth quarter, dropped to 0-6.

Senior Arvell Nelson threw four touchdown passes as the Tarblooders won another Senate Athletic League game at Patrick Henry.

Glenville (7-0, 4-0) led, 49-0, before the Flyers (3-4, 3-2) scored two touchdowns in the fourth quarter.

Nelson was 8-of-14 for 213 yards.

In order of preference....Iowa, Wisconsin, North Carolina, Syracuse and Eastern Michigan are the schools he is interested in. Nelson continues to hear from OSU, saying if Antonio Henton doesn't accept, that offer could go to him.
