Harrisburg (Pa.) McDevitt's LeSean McCoy is ranked as the No. 2 running back in the country by Scout.com, trailing only Ohio State commitment Chris Wells. McCoy plans on making an unofficial visit to OSU, but it doesn't sound like the Buckeyes have a strong chance at landing him. Bucknuts.com caught up with McCoy for the latest.

Running back LeSean McCoy from Harrisburg (Pa.) McDevitt High School is one of the top prospects in the country.

He plans on taking his time with the recruiting process and has not scheduled any official visits at this time.

“I’m going to take a couple unofficials in the next couple weeks – to Ohio State and Tennessee – but I haven’t scheduled any officials,” McCoy told Bucknuts.

As a junior in 2004, the 6-0, 208-pound McCoy rushed for 2,800 yards (9.4 per carry) and 33 touchdowns.

He says he is considering a wide range of schools.

“I’m wide open right now,” he said. “I don’t really have any favorites. I’m just kind of seeing what’s out there and I’m keeping all my options open.”

When asked specifically about Ohio State, McCoy said, “It’s a nice program. They run the ball a lot. But they just got that real good back from Ohio (Chris Wells).”

Wells is ranked as the No. 1 running back in the country by Scout.com and the No. 3 player overall. McCoy is ranked as the No. 2 running back and the No. 11 player overall.

Having Wells already in the fold will hurt the Buckeyes’ chances at landing McCoy.

“I think so,” McCoy said. “There’s no reason to have two of the top players in the country in the same backfield. You never know though. Maybe we could be like (ex-Auburn running backs) Ronnie Brown and the other guy (Cadillac Williams).”

The opportunity of receiving playing time as a true freshman will factor into McCoy’s decision.

“I think it will,” he said. “The best players play, and I would like to play right away. But it wouldn’t be bad to have someone older than me that I could learn from. It can work both ways.”

McCoy grew up as a big Miami Hurricanes fan. His favorite running back of all-time is Barry Sanders.

As for when he will make a decision, he could wait all the way until National Letter of Intent day in early February.

“I’m not really sure, but probably after the season,” he said. “I think I am going to wait and take all my visits during the season and after the season, then make my decision after the season.”

McCoy does not play any sports other than football at his high school. As for hobbies, he enjoys playing pick-up basketball with his friends. When there’s not a game available, he likes to relax and watch television.

McCoy reports a 2.6 GPA and has not yet taken a college entrance exam.

Two things about this:
1. That's pretty sweet if he would like to create one of the most dominant backfields in the country, and
2. HOW funny is it that he said "And the other guy" hahahahahaha

FWIW, here's a blogger who thinks that McCoy will end up at USC, with Miami running a close second, and Tennessee, Georgia, and Penn State being dark horse candidates.

As for McDevitt RB LeSean McCoy, still no word. If I had to guess, I'd lean toward USC as his future destination. It's not often that the national championship coach comes knocking, and when he does, it's not because he wanted a vacation in beautiful Pennsylvania. Factor in that he'll be closer to brother LeRon (if he makes the Arizona Cardinals roster) and you've got a pretty good fit. A close second (and the school I thought last year was a lock) is the Miami running back factory, with NFL-back producing Tennessee and Georgia still on the list. Don't count out dark horse Penn State yet, though. I don't know what Justin King and Derrick Williams have been telling people, but if the Nittany Lions get off to a fast start in the Big Ten, you never know if McCoy might want to be known as the guy who put Penn State back on the national map. Doubtful, though...
