Colin confirms his visit here for the weekend of 9/23. says tOSU and Coach Beckman were the first to call him on 9/1 (called at 6 AM). has an official set up with Penn St. for 10/7 (the weekend tOSU is in town). says his top 5 would probably be FSU, UF, Miami, tOSU, and PSU (no offers from FSU and UF). his team is 1-2 on the season and in their last game (27-12 win) he had a fumble recovery, 2-3 TFL's, and 15 total tackles. also caught 15 balls for 100 yards and 2 scores.

McCarthy has been told that he is close to receiving an offer from Florida. No word on Florida State. He says he owes it to Ohio State and Penn State to visit because they have been recruiting him the "hardest". Colin says that if Florida State and Florida do not offer in the next couple of weeks, he will take them off of his list and concentrate on his favorites.

Marauders, Harris run over Lake Highland

CLEARWATER - Behind a consistent passing game and running back Ron Harris, Clearwater Central Catholic punished Lake Highland, keeping the visitors' defense on the field much of the night.
Andrew Nowels threw for two first-half touchdowns to put the Marauders up 14-0. Harris broke the 100 mark in the first half, rushing 15 times for 134 yards.
The defense rattled Lake Highland's offense, which was shut out until late in the game. Once Lake Highland implemented a rushing offense with several traps, it finally was able to move the ball.
PLAY OF THE GAME: CCC was pushed to its end zone and faced third and 23. Harris took the handoff and broke to the left. He broke free from two defenders, sprinted up the sideline. He stepped out at the Lake Highland 17.
PLAYERS OF THE GAME: Harris' ability to find openings was largely due to Nowels, who hit on several key passes, including the two touchdowns to Colin McCarthy. The trio seemed to find a way to get first downs most of the evening.
KEY STATISTIC: CCC had 14 first downs, all at crucial times, keeping Lake Highland's defense on the field.
THEY SAID IT: "Our style has always been to try and stay balanced. When we play balanced, we are a better football team," - Mike Jalazo, CCC coach.

Colin acknowledges the high amount of attention coming his way. He was extremely impressed with tOSU's linebackers and is very interested in tOSU right now. He is still deciding on his final three visits, but tOSU is still planned for Iowa weekend.

CCC 29, Auburndale 14
AUBURNDALE - Riley Cooper caught five passes for 186 yards and two touchdowns to lead Clearwater Central Catholic over Auburndale.
The game was tied at the half, but the Marauders (3-1) ultimately wore out the Bloodhounds defense during the second half as Cooper caught his second touchdown to put CCC up 26-14 with 10:09 remaining in the third quarter. Cooper's first touchdown came on a 99-yard pass from quarterback Andrew Nowels in the first quarter.

someone that is supposedly "in the know" with Colin says that it is tOSU or UF for McCarthy. no offer yet from UF, and apparantly he is getting tired of waiting.

Colin is looking forward to his visit this weekend. Ohio State is recruiting him as a linebacker. OSU, Miami (Fla.), Penn State, N.C. State, Georgia Tech, West Virginia, Indiana and Minnesota have offered. He does not name a leader.

This one will come down to us and UF. I think that the problem here is that we already have 3 outside lb commits and likely for a 4th with Gibson. Where are they going to play all of them.

I think Lenix will be a safety and maybe the coaching staff is telling the OLB recruits this. Also Homan may get big enough for MLB even though I think he is an outside backer.

You can never recruit too many linebackers, because a lot of them don't pan out.

Linebackers also can move over to defensive end, tight end or fullback, or the smaller ones can move to safety. You can never have too many linebackers.

Am I missing something. As far as I know we have 1 LB Homan locked up so far. Moeller and Lenix both are quick hard hitting safeties in my opinion.
