Princeton's Brown A Junior To Watch

We always have our eyes out looking for Ohio's top prospects, and one who has recently emerged is defensive lineman Aaron Brown of Cincinnati Princeton. Duane Long has more on this fine prospect.


During the high school football season, prospects always emerge that we hadn't heard much about before. One such prospect is DE/DT Aaron Brown of Cincinnati Princeton.

Brown is just a junior, but he already stands at 6-6, 255. He will likely rank as one of the top 20 prospects in the state in his class, and he was out showing why this summer at camps.

"He camped at Ohio State for the last three years," Brown's father said. "He had a 4.5 shuttle. He won two or three awards; I can't remember which. He went down to the Tennessee camp and got an MVP award."

Brown plays defensive end, but at that size, defensive tackle could be in his future.

"He's fine with that," his father said. "This isn't a kid with a bunch of attitude. He's not going to come in demanding to play a certain position. Wherever they ask him to play, he's just going to go over and line up."

Brown, who has a 3.5 GPA, is already a big guy, and much of the reason is because he comes from a big family. His father is 6-4 and his mother is 6-0.

"He just really started lifting weights," his dad said. "His uncle was a Tennessee commit, he was 6-7."

Brown and his family will be taking a look around when it comes to schools -- one place he already plans on being is in Pittsburgh for the Pitt-West Virginia game in December, but his father said that the Buckeyes are the team to beat.

"Ohio State is where we want to be," he said. "He's an Ohio boy."

Brown transferred to Cincinnati Princeton this year and played at defensive end and offensive tackle. He has gone to the Ohio State camp for the last three years and grew up watching the Bucks on TV. Miami, Notre Dame, Pitt, Tennessee and BC are some the schools he's currently considering.

Junior Lineman Already Checking Out Elite Programs

We're right in the thick of the 2004-05 recruiting season, but that hasn't stopped colleges from looking ahead to next year. Major programs are showing interest in Cincinnati Princeton lineman Aaron Brown. We've got an update on this prospect and where he is looking early in the process.


When looking at the top line prospects in the state of Ohio next year, Aaron Brown of Cincinnati Princeton will definitely be a player who will be at or near the top of the list. Brown is already receiving interest from some of the nation's top programs.

"We go to Auburn in two weeks," said Aaron's father George. "Miami is coming in in April. Nebraska has been in to look at film. Michigan, Pitt, Purdue and South Carolina have seen tape and want to come in."

Brown can play on either side of the ball but may project better as an offensive lineman. He is a developing player who already stands at around 6-6 and is getting bigger.

"We ran into (OSU defensive line coach Jim) Heacock at the Purdue game," George Brown said. "He could not believe how much bigger Aaron has gotten. He last saw him at about 255. He is now up to a solid 272."

How big is Ohio State's interest in Brown?

"Others have been showing more interest than Ohio State, but that is not a concern for us," George Brown said. "We know that Jim Tressel takes his time and does things at his own pace. That is not a concern at all."

Classroom marks are also not a concern for Aaron Brown.

"Aaron has a 980 (SAT score) but wants to take it again," George Brown said. "He wants 1000. He has a 3.6 GPA."

Remember the name Aaron Brown as you could be hearing much more of it in the near future. Expect Brown to be one of the most talked-about linemen in the state in 2005.

who is the coach down at princeton these days??

They just posted video on Scout of this Ohio prospect and while the videos are very grainy and choppy I was still able to get a good look at him. I think OL are very hard to evaluate for the amateur (me) other than people like Boone and Mitchum. With that being said, he looked very agile for a big man especially on D, where he was running down QBs. His blocking looked very good with his pass blocking being mostly featured. He played left and right tackle on these clips. I will be curious to see how he gets ranked and I would liek to see some clearer video.

Aaron is at 6-6 280 and has a 3.4 GPA and a 980 SAT. He is going to Junior Days at Purdue, Iowa, Cincinnati, and Auburn. Purdue may be close to offering, and Iowa and OSU would like to see him in person. He gets hand-written notes from Heacock and Tressel and he is planning on attending the OSU combine on April 14th. South Carolina, scUM, Florida, and Miami have also been in touch.

Yeah, he looked pretty good in that video, although it was one of the worst videos (qualifty) that I've ever seen. From what you could see, he looked pretty athletic and strong.
