I assume OSU is looking hard at 3 in-state QB prospects plus other out-of-state QBs. From what I've read on Tim Tebow I can't imagine he wouldn't be in the coaching staff's top three QB's for '06.

I think Tebow is a strong candidate to join Urban's first recruiting class at UF. Sean Hakes seems poised to have a big senior year since he is listed in the top 11 QBs in Texas despite not many people having seen him play full time yet. Plus Devlin in PA will get a look. Lots of options at QB for this class.

Nate will not play baseball this spring but will concentrate on AAU basketball. He is considering playing football and basketball in college. Right now, he does not have a favorite and is receiving mail from an array of schools for both sports. Indiana has told him they will extend an offer for football soon. He enjoyed his Jr. Day visit to tOSU, but has never been to a game at the 'Shoe...however, Nate said that will change this year.

I saw Nate play last Friday night in the District Final. I must say that I was impressed. He is very athletic and looked thicker than I imagined. He did everything from bringing the ball up to posting up in the blocks. Scored 39 of his teams 62 points as he beat my alma matter in 2OTS. He can shoot from anywhere and maybe most impressive, he was 18-20 from the line. For anyone around Athens, his Bellaire team plays in the regionals tonight.

Scout posted 3 videos of Nate's highlights. He moves well and show a very impressive arm. The level of competition could be questioned, but Nate's athleticism, accuracy, and arm strength are obvious.

Nate is wide open at this point and does not want to go to far away from home. He likes Ohio State, West Virginia, Pittsburgh, Virginia, Maryland and Indiana for football. Illinois and Ohio State are starting to contact him for basketball.

If he had to lean towards a sport, it would be basketball, but he feels football will give him better scholarship offers.

The more I learn about Nate Davis, the more intrigued I become by his potential.

And I can't help but remember another three-sport superstar from down on the River. John Havlicek, the All-Ohio football/basketball/baseball star of the Bridgeport H.S. Class of 1958. Hondo. The greatest 6th man in the history of the NBA. A member of the NBA Hall of Fame, who was recruited by tOSU as a football player. Didn't really like Woody's style, moved over to Fred Taylor's basketball team and the rest is history. Most don't remember that Hondo was such a stud footballer that, despite never playing a down after high school, he was drafted by the Cleveland Browns. He was that talented an athlete.

Back to Nate, who grew up in Bellaire, a stone's throw from Bridgeport, and evidently has all the same amazing athletic skills Hondo brought to tOSU. All-State in two sports, with a batting average over .500 in the third. He has all the markings of a 21st Century Hondo.

In an era when recruiting mavens have a separate category for "Athlete", I'm hard pressed to think of a recruit with more sheer athletic potential than Nate Davis -- the New Hondo. He seems to me to be a no-brainer for a scholarship offer -- either from JT or TM. And what a great story he'd be. A PR guy's dream come true. The anti-Clarett.

JT, bring him in. There's got to be a place for a kid like this.

The question has never been whether or not Nate Davis could play football at a major Division I-A college program, but whether or not he would play football. The three-sport star has in the past been said to favor basketball, but he may now be looking more towards a career on the gridiron. Duane Long has more.

Bellaire's Nate Davis might be Ohio's best three-sport star and one of the state's top overall athletes, but the question of what sport Davis would play in college has always lingered. It originally seemed like Davis might be leaning towards basketball, but he informed Bucknuts recently that it looks like his sport of choice may be football.

"Yeah, it looks like it," Davis said. "I've been thinking about it for a while."

Davis said he planned to play AAU basketball this spring but has been playing baseball. He had hit two home runs in four games. He seems to be thinking about focusing on just one sport in college.

"If I change my mind, I will only be playing one sport," he said. "You just can't excel if you try to divide your time like that."

Davis plans on camping at Ohio State and West Virginia this summer.

"I don't know about any others right now," he said.

When will Davis be making a decision?

"I'm going to wait," he said. "I'm really just starting to look into this as far as football's concerned."

Davis says he is looking to major in special education and says academics will have everything to do with his final decision.

"I'm all set grade-wise," he said.

I watched his videos and his arm strength is amazing. I would love to land him in the this class. Either as a qb or maybe even as an athlete.

Nate has a difficult decision to make regarding basketball or football. He is receiving heavy interest from WVU, Illinois, Virginia, and tOSU. He holds offers from Indiana and Toledo. Nate scored a 16 on his first ACT attempt.

Nate tells the Illinois site that he likes the basketball program and he would love to play basketball at the next level but it looks like he will play football at this point. He says Indiana and Toledo have offered and those are his leaders right now. Illinois, Marshall, Kent, West Virginia, Bowling Green, Cincy and Ohio State have been in to visit his school.

Nate has decided to concentrate on football at the college level. He holds offers from Indiana and Toledo while Marshall, Bowling Green, Penn State, Pitt, tOSU, Illinois, and Virginia are all showing major attention. He plans to decide after the season and is wide open at this point.

Nate is a good football prospect and will do extremely well. I however think he should play basketball in college. I personally think that is his best sport. Either way I wish him luck and hope he gets the best offers possible.
