it seems to me doc has been going after some of the real big names lately, maybe the staff thinks hes a good closer, you have to figure he has experience with it being a past winner of the d3 coach of the year.

Hard to say because Glenville barely used Freddie (or Jamario) on offense this year. This was a bit of a suprise because Ted Sr. said he was going to play Lenix at RB (and LB) and Jamario at QB (and DB) this past summer. But he never did- he played Jr. Arvill Nelson at QB and Tim Connor at RB (a majority of the time).
I have to admit I hate to lose Lenix to offense. From watching clips and reading accounts of his games he just appears to be such a playmaker on defense. I personally think he fits better at LB (Freddie and Ted Sr. said he would be 225 by the Fall '05) but I even prefer Safety to him as a big back.
But as the saying goes Trust in Tress.

Doc has done a great job in Minny. He was a coach in Minnesota and has alot of connections. Walker Ashley talks about his loyality to tOSU because they were the first to offer. We can thank Doc and his connections for that and the recruitment of our new LB.

I think it is especially smart after reading the article in the sunday dispatch about Mel Tucker. In that article he was basically quoted as saying it is his full intent to land a head coaching in the future. The article seemed to speculate that he may get his chance sooner rather than later because he is extremely well-qualified, w/ a well groomed resume, and with a history of being associated with success. Added to all of that he is a good recruiter and he is African-American--- a fact that won't be lost by schools looking to hire a new coach, even more so now that the NCAA is pushing strongly for more minority coaches in D1A schools. His stock is definately on the rise and with the recent success of OSU and the trend for assisstant coaches on those types of teams moving onward and upward, who knows? Sending Doc Tressel in with him may be rather innocent or it may mean something more, BUT Mel Tucker is a good coach and he won't be here forever.

against mckinley lenix played fb a tad in short yardage and some rb, mostly to pick up blitzs on obvious passing downs. he did carry the ball a few times about half of his runs were called back for holds. he seemed quick and fast with good vision, its hard for me to rank or place him as he only touched the ball maybe 6 times on offense. i agree with 86 he has a helluva knack for the ball on defense

I'm counting him as verbal number 15 already. He may be our last Ohio recruit taken this year, which might leave us with more out of state recruits than in state. When was the last time that happened?

That is an outrageous statement and I demand that you take it back! Everyone knows that Tressel does not recruit well out of state! Now watch me have to eat my words as 3 or 4 OOS recruits sign elsewhere in February!
