He was rated as the #4 overall performer but Tim Conner, also from Glenville was rated the #1 RB

I am excited to see Jamario at QB and Lenix at RB this season. Could Lenix be the Big RB we are looking for to compliment Wells in this recruiting class?

The more I read about him, the more I hope OSU offers him. He will be a devastating safety. I can't wait to see an all Glennville defensive backfield. This might be history in the making!

Tim Conner is a player, too - a bit small, but a real hard runner, and a big hitter on defense. I hope that he can earn an offer somehow.

He attended camp at Akron (a bunch of Glenville kids are going there) and will be visiting tOSU and Iowa soon. No Florida talk in this article. Here is what he says about tOSU.

Ohio State is close to home and they have a good football program. They also seem concerned in helping their athletes not only on the field, but off it.

Lenix says that tOSU told him he would get an offer but just to sit tight for now. He doesn't care where he plays- LB, S or RB. Coach Tucker and Fickell are recruiting. He really likes Coach Fickell.

Not much- IMO JT is being extra careful with the kids that are borderline on grades (i.e. Lenix, Hight, K. Davis, C. Smith and Ringer). My guess is Lenix will eventually get an offer and become a Buckeye.

What are the concerns with his grades? Someone posted earlier in this thread that he has a 3.0 GPA. Has he gotten the results of the SAT/ACT yet?

for athletic scholarships, the GPA is considered as a function of relativity to the rest of the high school class... what that means is that the admissions group is looking for an individual who 'must' be in the top 50% of his class... so if the school just hands out grades and everyone in the school gets A's and B's (the school is merely pushing everyone thru) then the GPA is 'discounted' ... If the school is scholastically a high powered school (maybe a prep school) the athlete could be hampered since the school could be stacked with gifted kids..

always intriguing to see a kid with a "3.0 GPA" who scores a 600 SAT... makes you wonder... but also explains why the GPA is looked at in relation to the whole class...

Man! I hope we can get this guy! I read an article on Lenix, and I think his work ethic is large! He has been working his tail off to get things in order. I hope that is a deciding factor in the big scheme of things. Come on Lenix, Finish strong!!

His video is up on Insiders now. I was very impressed with his speed and hitting ability. He runs through the ball carrier instead of simply tackling them.

Florida is his favorite and tOSU is second. He will visit for the UC game. Ohio State is recruiting him as an outside linebacker, safety, or running back- he likes LB.

Let me go out on a limb and say that if tOSU offers (which I think they eventually will) they will become no. 1 on Freddie's list.

Glenville football coach Ted Ginn Sr. is often referred to as "The Mayor of St. Clair."

Senior Freddie Lenix has done so many good things on the football field the past two years, he has become the perfect write-in candidate.

The 6-0, 200-pounder is rated one of the top linebackers in the country by Ohio High Magazine. He'll have a chance to show he belongs when the Tarblooders play tradition-rich Buchtel in Week 4.

"It'll be fun because both teams rely on speed," said Lenix, whose hitting and 4.3-second time in the 40-yard dash have caught the attention of almost every major college program in the nation. "We know Buchtel is a good team, but we think we're pretty good, too.

"This game isn't about trying to show up anybody because our season is about taking one game at a time and playing as one. If we do that, we'll make it to the 15th game."

Lenix's speed also makes him an offensive threat as a powerful, slashing tailback. But his skills on offense used to work against him where he excels the most: defense.

"Because of his quickness and anticipation, Freddie used to over-run plays," said Glenville defensive coordinator Robert Andrews, a former assistant at Warren Harding. "So we moved him about 7 yards back to give him more reaction time. We did it with (all-state linebacker) Prescott Burgess when I was at Harding, and it helped him to get in on more plays."

Lenix enjoys running with the ball, but he's infatuated with defense.

"I love dishing out pain head-on, but I'm just as effective running sideline to sideline," said Lenix, also a standout sprinter on the track team. "Being a running back has helped me on defense. I think like a running back, so it helps me read plays better on defense."

"Freddie's dangerous," Ginn said. "He's dangerous because he runs through people."
