Layman opinion of what I saw last night. Freddie hits like a ton of bricks but is very small. Smaller than Mike Doss, but maybe hits harder. Again just an opinion, he would be great as a safety when we play a power running team such as Wisconsin. Based on last night he gets two thumbs up.

The guy I drooled over is Rose, the D-lineman. Bigger stronger version of Javon Kerse. I hope he has grades next year.

Before they loaded the bus, Freddie Lenix and Jamario O'Neal posed for their last Glenville football photo. O'Neal said it was a photo of two future Buckeyes. Lenix is content to wait and see if OSU will indeed offer him a scholarship.

i would say freddie is maybe slighltly bigger than mike doss was as a senior in high school, otherwise though i think stow hit it head on. rose is tough too. nowhere near kearse's speed but a legit d1 rpospect for sure.

Went to see the game this weekend, a few observations. First and formost is Glenville, their center #64 was a monster, he pancaked 68 for mckinley a dozen times. Thats a joke on him being a monster, hes about 5ft 5, 175lbs, but hes a fighter, well worth the trip up theirto see a lil guy like that fight like hell.

O'Neal #8 His punt return WOW, incredible 98 yards, Smalls didn't pick it up and so Jamrio did on the 2 running it back into the endzone and out and about around and up the sideline a la Teddy. He has great speed and was untested on defense, from my recollection was untested and knocked down a pass thrown to another guys man. Laid some real big licks comming up he played both saftey and cb, also killed a guy on a kickoff, was running down the field picked out the littlest guy and murdered him. For a reason I do not understand never played offense?? never seen these guys before but in my opinion their is no reason he should not have played, run reverse or actually caught the ball. Ran down Brinson at the end of the game like he was standing still, really showed foot speed. Brison is supposedly in the 4.42 range. So 4.5 for Jamario is easily legit.

Lenix #7 Freddie played real well, had a knack for that ball and played mlb, my projection on soze is 6ft 6ft 1, 200-210lbs. If he put some wight on I would see a Cie Grantish style lb more likely than a saftey. had some real nice hits and ran well. Played some offense as a fb and run/pass blcoking. Ran the ball 3 times, two times glenvillle had penalties, 1 carry 3 yards. Showed real good patientince and a nice burst.

#13 Smalls, Ray dropped a lot of balls 3-4 on maybe 6 passes his way. Has a lot of speed, did not play any defense.

#99 Blew up the line a lot, played real well, impressive, lacked size to play inside like he did at the next level. Has good upfield movement and a good "motor"

#3 DE played really well had a handful of sacks and good speed, i think this is curtis smith???

#25 Supposedly a soph, played dt, but was everywhere similar in stature to lenix, played hard and was everywhere, a young guy who will must lilkely me moved to lb

Hiley-the worst high school kciker i have ever seen, no leg strength, I don't think he got one inside the 20 and had one guy 12-18 yards that was not an onside attempt.

Overall impression of Gelnville was lots of team speed, honestly not very well coached in X and O's play calling was suspect until they need it and ran the ball down Mcklineys throat at the end of the game and mixed that with some razzle dazzle counters and reverses. Had a defense who could really hit. I do not understand why the better players didnt go both ways especially with the talent of some of these guys

Canton McKinley
#3 Brinson Really good shifty powerful back, good quickness and speed. Very ellusive runner and on returns

#84 Really big kid, nice player played te, with tackle size.


Overall-really good game, 4 turnovers killed the tarblooders, my pick is Colerain for the championship

#84 on Canton McKinley is Anton Hight. Played both ways, TE/DE. I checked him out up close, layman's opinion; he has not put a whole lot of work into the body that God indeed blessed him with. If he had Freddie Lenix work ethic, we're talking a one man gang.

Regarding current Glenville star Freddie Lenix, Ginn told me "Freddie is up to 205 pounds right now. He'll play at 225 in college, and that's big enough with his speed. He'll make a great linebacker at the next level." After watching Lenix, ranked as one of the top players in the state by Ohio High magazine, make a ton of plays tonight, I agree with him.

Heard some things but it's all hearsay. Just wanted to know what your thoughts are ...
He is one heck of a player from what I have seen.

Coach T, Fickel and Tucker were at the Glenville/Mckinley game Sat. night (as were Iowa coaches)- It sounds like Lenix (and Brinson) was the target of their interest. Coach Ginn has been saying tOSU has been close to offering for awhile- hopefully Sat. night puts them over the top. This kid needs to be a Buckeye.

Is there any chance that they could grab 3 backers and then decide late that they wan't freddie as a fb. We have johnson but he will be a soph next year so if we redshirt lennix then he would have two years, also would be a great special teams player, and you never know if he gets down here and is better than the other backers well there you go. I just think with a kid this talented you can't not offer him on size alone.

Nothing new for Lenix with OSU

Freddie Lenix has four official visits set to Iowa, Wisconsin, Michigan State and North Carolina but he's keeping the last one open for Ohio State in case they come through with an offer. As of now Lenix is content to be patient while he waits to see what OSU's plans are.

Although he was determined as anyone to make it to week 15 of the high school football season, Freddie Lenix graciously accepted reality not long after Canton McKinley defeated Glenville 20-17 in the state semifinal round of the playoffs.

“We came a long way,” he said, “but it just shows that mistakes will get you.”

Personally Lenix had another solid game at linebacker as representatives from the Ohio State coaching staff looked on. The versatile senior also had a couple of carries with the football at running back. Recently rumors of an imminent offer to Lenix from OSU have been circulating but it’s nothing that Lenix is aware of at this time.

“There’s nothing new on the recruiting stuff,” said Lenix not long after losing to McKinley Saturday night. “I’m just going to keep my head up because I knew all along there would eventually come a time when I have to go to the next level and today was the end of my high school career. So I’m looking forward to it.”

He’s just not certain yet where he will be at when he’s playing at the next level.

“I have four official visits set up for now,” said Lenix, who named Iowa, Wisconsin, Michigan State and North Carolina as the schools he intends to visit. All of them have offered. “As far as my status with Ohio State goes, I’m just being patient while I’m waiting on an offer and I left one visit open for them.”

However it’s been about two weeks since Lenix last talked with someone on the staff at Ohio State. Mel Tucker is handling the recruitment of Lenix for the Buckeyes.

“They told me to just be patient so that tells me that they’re thinking about me,” he said. “I’m willing to be patient because I’d love to represent my state. That’s why every time they tell me to be patient, I just do it because that will be the best feeling in the world to represent where you’re from and represent the Buckeyes. So I’m willing to be patient.”

Does he have a good feeling at all about his chances to get an offer from the Buckeyes?

“I got a good feeling it’s going to come just by me being patient,” Lenix said. “We’ll see.”

Eventually he’ll have to make a decision with or without an offer from Ohio State.

“The other schools are willing to take me so if it comes down to making a decision without Ohio State, then that’s a decision that I’m going to have to face,” he said. “So until that time, I’m just going to be patient and just hopefully they’ll come talk to me.”

With lightening fast speed and an insatiable desire to get to the football, Lenix is projected by some at linebacker and others have him pegged as a safety on defense.

“I’ll play anywhere on the field, it don’t matter to me,” Lenix said. “I can be an outside linebacker, I see myself as that. And I can also see myself as a safety or a running back. But to me I can play in the middle (at linebacker). Down the road I’ll gain a couple of pounds and with my speed and my strength and my heart, I can play in the middle.”

Lenix isn’t exactly your ordinary high school senior, in addition to his superlative exploits on the gridiron and those during track season, he’s trying to be the best father that he can possibly be. Freddie Jr. turned one during the season.

“My little boy is doing real good. He’s walking, running and talking. He’s doing real good,” said Lenix with a big smile on his face. “My son was in the stands watching me tonight and I gave him a great show. He didn’t know what was going on but my sister just told me he knew his daddy was out there so it was fun. It’s really special having him watch me in my high school career.”

Despite the loss to McKinley, it’s been a great season and career overall for Lenix who’s been a mainstay on defense for the Tarblooders over the recent years and he’s ready for the next phase now.

“My career went real good. I’m really happy,” he said. “Throughout the years we were in the first round (of the playoffs), one year we didn’t make it, and this year we went against all odds to make it to the semifinals. I’m not disappointed at all because this season was so much fun. It was real fun.”

I just don't want to see Freddie wait too long and lose the other offers and then have OSU not take him. People on this board would storm the WHAC.

I don't think that Tressel would do that to Ginn, Sr.
