I was with you right up until the last part there about vy......i highly doubt any team looks at the texas offense and thinks to themself, damn at least with VY back there I new what to expect.

All I mean is more people will get to touch the ball, and with the likes of JC I have a very good feeling about that. I think teams will try to bull rush our young QB's which could be a HUGE mistake . We will devour people with quick slants. Jeven and Colt both have quick releases and are accurate. Pray for DB's when J-Finley gets loose, and he will. I feel sorry for the DB"s who will have to chase our 6-7 diffrent lightning fast receivers all day, plus be ready to try to catch a rocket flying out of the backfield. No, it wont be the same as VY, be it will be plenty scarry.

I don't think any logical Ohio State fan thinks Ginn can win the Heisman next year unless he plays better than he did in the Fiesta Bowl for an entire season, so I don't know what exactly it is you are arguing about Ginn and his Heisman campaign. The fact remains, it wasn't Texas that derailed him, it was his play. That isn't knocking Texas, it's just making sure they don't get credit for something they didn't do.

I sure hope you were never sickened by SC fans (and the media) preaching similar mantras about their offense, because you sound just like them... except they actually had a proven QB.

You're not playing baylor all year long, so you will not 'devour' everyone, and simply outclass and outspeed everyone.

That last post lost all credibility in my book.

My original point was tounge and cheek. Since UT was saying we only have 2 WRs and one will be shut down, I though I'd throw out some other pointless information in OSU's defense. Do I really think we will average 6+ yards per carry so we won't need a passing attack? No. Do I really think we will need to suit up extra players since our depleted WR corp (2) will need help catching all the balls on wide open routes? No. Does your defensive showing against USC really mean a hill o beans when we play this year? Not really, but all are as easily justifiable as some of the claims from Texas fans. My point, which was missed I guess, is talk football not smack.

BTW, I do think our offense will be better than you saw last year. Why? Balance. As good as SC 05? No, but we won't be searching for a running game like we were at the beginning of last season. We also (barring some off field incident) won't be searching for a starter at QB. Will we put up enough points to win? That depends on the play of your QB. If he (whoever that may be) has a bad day, the running game alone won't be enough for Texas.

Oh, yes... our slow plodding DBs won't be able to match up to the unquestioned Texas speed at the corners (and that's saying nothing of how our insanely tortise like LBs can only dream of catching Charles)... And, of course, on the other side of the ball, your DBs will have no issues with Ted Ginn and Anthony Gonzalez, who have over in flated 40 times and probably actually never really ran track.

Hey, UTMNC, seriously - did you know that A Gone is actually faster than Ginn?

This Texas fan is very concerned not just about the QB, but how much last year's QB had to do with the success of the WRs and the RBs. Your last sentence, that the offense may be more diverse, seems odd, since UT/VY beat tOSU by going to the pass, and then beat USC by running/passing. Forget about all the games inbetween, those were mostly pointless as far as average points or diversity among plays, as the competition was not up to par, our two big games showed a fairly diverse offense, although it was run more out of the zone read than it probably will be this year.

Did VY make the line/RBs/WRs look better than they were? Hopefully this will be a driving point behind the returning starters to have something to prove, A-VY.

You (as in offensive line and running game) can only protect a QB so much. Every game there are any number of plays (3rd and long) that the QB has to make on his own. It's about the decisions, not physical ability. Everyone on the field has the physical ability. I say again, it's about decision making...Now I can understand saying "our defense will have to really carry us early in the year until the game slows down for the QB and the defense is good enough to win games for us", that's a reasonable position IMO. But if you think that pressuring a QB, especially a young QB is going to be dangerous for the defense, I'm not sure what to make of that. Hell, Peyton Manning couldn't/didn't stand up to that kind of pressure...Pressure is any QB's ultimate problem. Quick slants and quick outs, play after play, end up being "pick 6's" the other way, sooner or later...

I have already stated in one post that tOSU defense will be better than what people think, and that the Texas QB's will do better than what most think. In all honesty, show me where Im wrong in the following.

1. Texas OL will be one of the best if not the best in the nation with 3 starters from MNC, and 2 more that played on a rotating basis and a load of GAME experience last year.

2. I will match our RB's with anyone

3. As a GROUP, our receivers may be the best in the Nation: Sweed, Pittman, cosby, jones. Shipley, Finley, Walker,Tweedie

If this dosen't ease the load off a young QB, then pray tell let me know what does. Sneed, who I think will be our starter is not just walking in off the street in Aug. He's been enrolled since December, and will have afull summer and fall practice against our defense under his belt. Raw yes, but he and Colt will be just fine, just as tOSU defense will be.

Preseason Heisman lists may be even less relevant than presason rankings in determing how a game is going to play out.

So let me get this straight. Your defense is going to be better than last year, you have the best OLine in the nation simply because you return 3 starters from a Championship team, you have the best RBs in the nation, and the best receivers in the nation. I'm wondering why we are even coming down.

(spare me your response on how you never said that the OLine or RB were the best in the nation. your time would be better spent looking up the word hyperbole)

already did... the thought that your green QBs can simply devour anyone they want on slants, the WRs are simply too fast to be covered, and that your dbs can blanket anyone. If that isn't pure homerism, I don't know what is.
