I really don't know where you're getting this from... when has OSU stacked the box with 8 guys, let alone 9?

I don't recall OSU putting the safeties in the box much if at all in our game last year, and that was when Vince's passing ability was an unknown commodity. Whatever that defense was, it worked pretty well against the run.

I totally disagree that its not an OC issue. Some plays work against constant pressure, plays that take to long to develop don't. If Texas gets constantly stuffed and sacked, do you not think that Greg Davis will get some of the blame?

Rookies are prone to make mistakes, miss reads and not play well in the face if big pressure.
Thats why you will almost certainly see 9 men in the box. Negate Charles ability to control the game. Force the rookie quarterback to consistently make plays.

Is it your viewpoint that your secondary can match up with our receivers man on man? If you are putting nine in the box, your safeties will not be covering our receivers. Putting nine in the box, and leaving one on one coverage of Limas Sweed, Billy Pittman, Quan Cosby, and/or JFinley? It doesn't take long to through a quick slant, or just throw it up to Sweed who is 6'5". People have come down hard on Greg Davis in the past, but I stil think he will be able to handle it.

I can't wait until this game finally gets here and gets over with. I think there will be some sort of meltdown on the boards, though, when the game is finally over. I mean we are 5 months away from the game and this thread is already 50+ pages. What will everybody do? There won't be anything left to debate or discuss... LOL!! Just kidding- of course the final score and the role the officials had and if they made bad calls will be talked about in this thread until next season.
But seriously- Is there anything left to be said, disected, and then taken wrong or out of context regarding this game? I mean, 50+ pages is a lot of space to say nothing new.
So, I for one am going to try to take this thread a different direction. I won't discuss depth charts or match-ups. I won't address coverage schemes or trick plays. I refuse to comment on whether or not the Texas WR's are going to suffer because of VY's departure. I will not review game histories of common opponents. I will not debate B10 vs. B12 relative strength. I will not talk about our loss last year at The Shoe. I will not compare last season for us to the season Texas had in '04. There will be no waxing poetic or setting any players up on a pedestal.
No. There will be none of that for me. Instead, I'm going to talk garbage. I'm going to break the civility code between Texas and OSU fans and speak from the heart. Information-based analysis is done. Emotion-based trash talking shall now commence:
Buckeyes will win big. They will win HUGE. They will destroy the opposition. They will make our opponents cry for their mothers and beg for their lives. The Buckeyes will roundhouse kick the Longhorns like Chuck Norris does to bank robbers in "Walker: Texas Ranger". They will be a force so destructive that the government will set-up a relief fund for Longhorn families torn apart by the carnage. They, quite simply, will dominate. I may be completely wrong, but goddammit I'm sick of thinking rationally. Buckeyes win 55-14. GO BUCKS! DESTROY TEXAS!

Maybe the Fiesta Bowl is still fresh in my remembery, but this statement reminds me of Notre Dame fans.
I'm not saying that having a 6" height advantage over the defender is meaningless. It's actually a very nice advantage. But we all saw how it helped Notre Dame in the Fiesta Bowl.

Well my dear Waston, by looking at his post count and reading his latest response I can deduce, and feel 100% accurate I might add, that our young alum01 was clearly not on this board durring the build up to last years game
