Call it a 14-point swing if you like.
I think it's more accurately described it as a 7-point swing plus a 30-yard gain in field position. tOSU still drove 50 yards with the second team O-line to get that first score. And you also seem to conveniently ignore the fact the Tressel could have scored more points in the second half if he needed them. |

Also, there was a great post a few pages back that showed Texassss'ss' running stats per drive. Texas went away from the run because it stopped working. post 7549 by our resident conspiracy theorist LV- http://www.buckeyeplanet.com/forum/s...postcount=7549 Last edited by Tlangs; 09-13-2006 at 03:57 PM. FYI, today's the last day for this thread in the main forum.
As much fun as it is to savor this victory, it's about time to move on. |

The offensive scheme against Texas was good, and I haven't heard a soul second guessing Jim Bollman or Jim Tressel since October 2005, but that has a lot to do with Troy making smart decisions finding the open guy, and the receivers running precise routes too. What has really amazed me in the past nine games is seeing how well Teddy and Gonzo improvise to bail Troy out under pressure, as well as how hard Troy can throw the football while rolling out and falling away. I don't know if Troy had either foot on the ground when he began to unload on the TD pass to Gonzo in the corner of the endzone. |

I want to know if Xray really thinks we're going to see Jamal Charles in New York with Troy Smith at the end of the season. That's what I want to know.

In regaurds to moving the thread and moving on to the next game: "The key for us getting over the Texas game is to understand what the game means," wide receiver Anthony Gonzalez said. "It?s not much more than another win. We didn?t get a ring. We didn?t win a championship. There is no reason to sit back and think about it, as great as it was." |

the Horns averaged 10.3 yards per carry on 9 carries in the first quarter. the Horns averaged 1.8 yards per carry on 10 carries in the second quarter. the running game stopped working. on the TD drive, of the 72 yards covered, UT gained 44 yards or 61% in two plays, both passes... on that drive, the Horns gained 23 yards rushing on 9 carries, for a 2.56 average... not exactly world class... in fact, at that rate, the Horns would have needed 52 more carries after the TD to reach 250 yards... have a nice day. Texas looking for leader 9/13/2006 12:15 PM By: Associated Press Texas football coach Mack Brown is looking for a leader -- on offense or defense, it doesn't matter. Texas dropped from second to eighth in the Associated Press top 25 poll after Saturday's humbling 24-7 loss to top-ranked Ohio State. The Longhorns apparently haven't found the right player or players to duplicate Vince Young's ability to keep things loose in the huddle and make the big play. Young led UT to a national title, then left school earlier this year for the NFL. AP reports wide receiver Limas Sweed may be one of the most talented players on offense. At 6-foot-5, he's a huge coverage problem for any opposing secondary, and he's shown he can make a great catch. Sweed said few seniors talked to the team on Sunday after the loss. He mentioned defensive ends Tim Crowder and Brian Robison. Those two combined for UT's three sacks on Ohio State quarterback Troy Smith. On defense, the Longhorns have looked to free safety Michael Griffin to take over the leadership void that Michael Huff left in the secondary |

I rewatched the whole game last night, and the helmet-to-helmet personal foul call was legit. Why? Go back and listen to the hit during the live play. You can clearly hear the hallow thud of helmet hitting helmet...it was loud. If the mics picked it up, you know the official just as well and had no choice but the make the call. Still, you don't ratchet down Richardson for what he did...as Herbstreit got Davie to say, you don't change a thing about how he plays.

Now being the back judge who threw the flag, its very very possible thats the exact reason he threw it. But I still think its a legal hit and he didn't see the helmet to helmet from behind, rather heard it. Now this is without word-for-word knoweldge of the helmet to helmet rule, so i may be way off. |
