I know in the buildup to the
OSU/UT game much was made of Troy's performances last year against the poorer defenses in the Big-Ten, but the point remains, since the loss to PSU (the day the 'light went on'), Troy's numbers are 139-of-207, 2291 yards, 18 TDs, 2 INTs in nine games. That's a 186.88 passer efficiency rating post-Penn State. That also includes victories over Michigan, Notre Dame, and Texas, the 3 winningest programs all-time, in a 4 game stretch. Troy has simply become a surgeon with a football, and it has nothing to do with the playcalls, the deployment, or the packages. It's just Troy learning how to watch film and committing himself to doing that after Ted Ginn Sr ripped him a new ass following the embarrassing performance in Happy Valley.
The offensive scheme against Texas was good, and I haven't heard a soul second guessing Jim Bollman or Jim Tressel since October 2005, but that has a lot to do with Troy making smart decisions finding the open guy, and the receivers running precise routes too.
What has really amazed me in the past nine games is seeing how well Teddy and Gonzo improvise to bail Troy out under pressure, as well as how hard Troy can throw the football while rolling out and falling away. I don't know if Troy had either foot on the ground when he began to unload on the TD pass to Gonzo in the corner of the endzone.
