I wouldn't recommend it because then who covers the middle of the field but they're certainly capable... I think we'll see a lot of stunts and blitzing from the front 7 first, and if that dont' work we'll throw the kitchen sink to get to the QB. IF we get to the QB we win the game IMO.
I have no doubt about your safeties' ability, I was merely pointing out to your fellow buckeye, that if you stack the box with nine defenders, that would leave the corners covering our WRs one on one. I also wholeheartedly agree that tOSU defense will and should be bringing the pressure. Despite our optimism about the mobility of our two young QBs, its going to be very interesting, to put it mildly, to see how these two youngins' handle the pressure from tOSU. Mack already stated that he would not show anything different at the spring game than what we ran last year, possibly indicating that UT will install some new schemes for the big game, but that has to worry us as well, because then we would not only have one or two unexperienced QBs, but also an entire offense that has not run the particular schemes/formations, against a very talented buckeye team. Practice and routine can only get you so far.

Needn't worry. We will not stack the box with 9 players more than 4 times in this game outside of the Red Zone. Bank on it.

Stovall had 9 catches for 126 yards
Samardzija had 6 catches for 59 yards

Their tall receivers weren't exactly inefficient.

Yeah, but they weren't a factor in the game. Neither made game changing catches.

not a GOTP, but this is a pretty sweet picture of ramonce up for grabs (sig material). I would rehost it somewhere so that it doesn't disappear due to the high traffic reading this thread.

Exactly, mainly because Laura Quinn's little bro spent most of the game running for his life or picking his ass up of the ground.

Alright, I'm getting a little off topic. Yeah, that clip was against Illinois but you can see plenty more of the same stuff in the Michigan game and others.
You'll get no argument from me. We played a lot of sucky teams last year, and we play a lot this year, and I know that Pittman is a good back. I just couldn't pass up the opportunity to have some fun.

Just kidding- of course the final score and the role the officials had and if they made bad calls will be talked about in this thread until next season.

But seriously- Is there anything left to be said, disected, and then taken wrong or out of context regarding this game? I mean, 50+ pages is a lot of space to say nothing new.

So, I for one am going to try to take this thread a different direction. I won't discuss depth charts or match-ups. I won't address coverage schemes or trick plays. I refuse to comment on whether or not the Texas WR's are going to suffer because of VY's departure. I will not review game histories of common opponents. I will not debate B10 vs. B12 relative strength. I will not talk about our loss last year at The Shoe. I will not compare last season for us to the season Texas had in '04. There will be no waxing poetic or setting any players up on a pedestal.

No. There will be none of that for me. Instead, I'm going to talk garbage. I'm going to break the civility code between Texas and OSU fans and speak from the heart. Information-based analysis is done. Emotion-based trash talking shall now commence:

Buckeyes will win big. They will win HUGE. They will destroy the opposition. They will make our opponents cry for their mothers and beg for their lives. The Buckeyes will roundhouse kick the Longhorns like Chuck Norris does to bank robbers in "Walker: Texas Ranger". They will be a force so destructive that the government will set-up a relief fund for Longhorn families torn apart by the carnage. They, quite simply, will dominate. I may be completely wrong, but goddammit I'm sick of thinking rationally. Buckeyes win 55-14. GO BUCKS! DESTROY TEXAS!
I have to say, that after months of carefully-crafted, well-reasoned, even-measured posts, this comment is a breath of fresh air. Way to let it all hang out. Not a good trash talker, so I won't even try to compete. I did trash talk the SC fans after the game on their thread, but they banned me. Trust me, they wrote some of the most disgustingly patronizing and openly racist threads I've ever seen, so I couldn't resist. Anyway, fun stuff. Hey, I sort of feel honored--you conceded two scores by us.

Oh yeah, about the unmentionable weather...

Apologies in advance, I'm breaking my own self-imposed ban on discussing the weather. I know OSU fans aren't overly concerned about Texas in September since the game is at night, and that the average temperature in Austin in September is 82 degrees, but THANKS TO GLOBAL WARMING, FOR THE LAST TWO DAYS, IT'S BEEN OVER A HUNDRED DEGREES IN AUSTIN, AND IF IT KEEPS UP, EVERYONE HERE WILL BE DEAD BY THE TIME THE GAME ROLLS AROUND!!!!!!!!!

Their tall receivers weren't exactly inefficient.
I don't remember any of those catches being made BECAUSE they are 6'5". There were a couple of plays where they were wide open, and a 5'5" receiver would have caught them. Their height advantage over the Buckeyes' secondary wasn't the issue that Notre Dame fans wanted it to be.

Again, not saying that it isn't an advantage to be that much taller than the defenders. I don't think that ND even TRIED any kind of fade pattern in the end zone, or any kind of jump-ball situation where they could take full advantage of their height. I was only pointing out that TexasFight's argument against putting 9 in the box (which I agree is a bad defense against Texas) made me think of the Notre Dame fans' argument for why they would win the Fiesta Bowl.

(Sorry, TexasFight. I really don't mean to compare you to Notre Dame fans.)
