By Dave Telep National Recruiting Director

We’re a long way away from figuring out who the 100 best players in the Class of 2007are. So, in the meantime, we’ve updated our Top 50 as we steam toward the pivotal spring traveling team season.
</TD></TR><TR><TD colSpan=3>
The names at the top remain the same – for now. O.J. Mayo, the undisputed heaviest hitter, in what looks to be a solid – and possibly spectacular – 2007 group sits atop our rankings. He’s then followed by Michael Beasley a forward out of Washington, D.C., and Bill Walker, Mayo’s high school and traveling team running mate.
Kevin Love, a power forward, reps the West Coast in our Top 5, pursued closely by Chi-Town’s sophomore sensation, Derrick Rose.
The rest of the list is going to change quite a bit over the next two months. There will be some movers and shakers so keep an early eye on a guy like Austin Freeman. The wing posted big numbers at the Spring Fling to kick off the year and everyone should be watching for a similar explosion in the month of April. Freeman checks in at No. 26 but he could be coming on fast!

Pogue is probably a little over-rated, and Lauderdale is probably a little underrated. Ellis is probably a great deal over-rated, but it is hard to say, since he isn't going to dominate on that team.
Also note that #50 is a Nate Miles from Toledo Libbey. That is unprecedented to see that many from Ohio make the top 50 of any basketball recruiting list. I think it is also safe to say that Dante Jackson is probably a top 100 player. Diebler very well could be, too. Very interesting stuff.

JaJuan Johnson (#42 a PF) is also listing Ohio State, as is Herb Pope #9, Kosta Koufos #20, Rakim Sanders #35 and Solomon Alabi #50.
True, some of these declarations of interest are "low man out of 5 or more" but they are listings of interest for the Buckeyes none the less.
So all told I count 10 of the top 50 with some interest in the round-ball Buckeyes - Not bad for any school, anywhere.
Perennial power Duke for instance nets 13 declarations of interest, Connecticut - like the Bucks, 10 - a number matched by Kentucky.
I haven't gone through the whole thing, but it looks like North Carolina may have the largest number of delcarations of interest with 17.
Oh yes, Wake Forest also has 10 declarations of interest. Most all of them low man on the pole though, lauderdale is one where they are going head-head in recruiting with the Buckeyes.

Koufos exploded on the scene after this list was put together, he is a top 25 player nationally now.
