OK, I'll bite. I've seen Calathes only twice, but he really impressed me both times -- more, to be frank, than Kosta. Not that I am in any way disappointed in Koufos, but I think the Gaytors got a good one. Great court vision, high hoop IQ, good passer. Agreed that the athleticism isn't there, but Steve Kerr, Mateen Cleaves and Mark Price didn't set any decathlon records either.

Did you see Kosta in that joke all star game or a high school?

In all the high school games I saw he was by far a STAR. I never seen a 7'2 guy bring the ball up the court to beat full court pressure and then he hits 3's .
Please name one high school kid that is over 7 that ever did those things in a game. Yes, he needs some strength . The all star games are a show for the kids to move up there ranking with the NBA teams. Kosta didn't get one pass to him while, he was getting assists.

In the state game he was double or triple teamed all game. Kinda like the Pistons against Lebron last night

He is projected in the lottery next year in some mock drafts...Rivals needs to get a freakin' clue...

I am not dogging on Calathes in any way, he is a good player, but no way he should be ranked ahead of KK, no way no how...

Also there is no way that KK should be ranked in the top 10...

I would put him at number 7 right behind Love, and I think that Walker should be taken out of these rankings...

I would also put Tuner in the top 50 somewhere...

Also Lauderdale is too low, and same with Wallace...

Regardless, 5 of the top 116 is nothing to scoff at.

A few years ago, if someone told us that our recruiting class would consist of the following ranked players, we'd be rioting in the streets in bliss. Rivals has done some homework, now let's let our boys get on the court and show them how wrong or right they were. Hopefully the latter.

Good stuff.

I totally agree, but the the thing that gets me is the biases, to some guys...

Either way I am very happy about this class, and they might take their lumps early next season, but come big ten season they will be ready to go...

i'm not saying that he's not good. what i am saying, however, is that he is the most overrated player this year and in no way belongs in front of a lot of players. he is not quick, cannot jump, plays short, is very weak, and has an average shooting form at best. although, what he has in spades is court awareness.

he may turn out to be a very good player by the time he graduates, but the rankings from scout and rivals are evaluations of the players as they are now. there is very little about calathes that i've seen that would lead me to rank him ahead of, say, diebler--let alone a great number of other players.

i agree that "no way no how" should calathes be ranked ahead of koufos. that is an absolute joke. i think the same can be claimed when contrasting calathes to almost any other player in the top 25.
