Rivals.com
Scout.com
Harmony Community High School (Cincinnati, OH)
Height: 6-foot-8
Weight: 210 pounds

Considered the #41 player overall in the 2007 class. Tyus is not currently listing Ohio State, but recently visited. Athletic wing player also doubles as a PF. Mid-range is about the extent of his perimeter game but strong and athletic enough to make plays at the rim.
Holds offers from Arizona, Kansas, Washington, Miami(FL) and Tennessee. Also listing Illinois, Texas, UConn, Memphis, Missouri, UNC and Syracuse.

Guard Jon Diebler of Upper Sandusky committed to OSU’s 2007 class in September. Coaches would like to add two more players. Center Dallas Lauderdale of Solon, forward Alex Tyus of Cincinnati and guard Evan Turner of Westchester, Ill., have visited recently.

Honestly I hadnt heard of him until this thread but he has a nice combo of size and stregth that would be highly valued at the 3 postion if that is where he could play. It continues to look more and more like the staff would like to pull another wing to go along with Diebler, with the recent offer to Turner and the attention given to Tyus.

This one has come out of left field so to speak. I have known about Tyus, but little to no interest has been showned by the staff up until recently. He has some very impressive offers. Very talented by all accounts. I have not seen him play, so not sure how he would fit in Matta's system.

From what I could read (subscription required),Tyus really showed himself at the
King James Shootout in Akron. I think that he is more of an around the basket type player rather than a wing.

I recently watched a special on last year's ABCD camp that was on CSN or CTN or whatever the college sports channel is called. In addition to some great footage of Oden and Conley they also featured Mayo and Walker. Tyus played on Mayo and Walker's team all week and was very impressive from the limited footage they showed. He was a monster on the glass and in transition but they didn't show a whole lot of his shooting touch. Nice player though. Definetely high D-1 talent.

Video of Tyus in action.
My Take: Very athletic in the paint, most of the highlights are him dunking and blocking shots. Has a nice turnaround jump shot in the lane area. Did not see him on the perimeter. Can really get up and down the court.

Ohio State, Florida, Illinois and Memphis are the schools on his list. Tyus has taken visits to Kansas, Indiana, Ohio State, Tennessee, Illinois and Miami (FL). Alex will visit Florida next week and then take another visit to tOSU with his family. Tyus may have a decision by the end of June. Matta and staff are recruiting him for the 3 spot.
No mention of an tOSU offer but Scout.com lists an offer, I will change thread based on that at this point.
My Take: I think the odds of us landing Tyus have improved, the additional visit with his family to tOSU is a good sign. If you have the chance take a look at the video previously posted, in my opinion, this would be a huge get for the 2007 class.

Seems like a lot of people think Thad is in the driver's seat. If he goes through the UF visit without committing, looks like he'll have a great shot at signing him. I've heard he is tight with O.J. Mayo and it might give Thad a better shot at that longshot if he does commit.
