Earl came out with something like, "I don't know what's wrong with Cincinnati kids, all they want to do is watch tv and hang out with their high school friends." Earl was both right and wrong and the Bucks didn't get a kid out of here for some time. Cooper finally was able to coax some kids out of the neighborhood and I was hoping that Keller's success and Schoenhoft had changed that setting but an article in today's Enquirer didn't sound very positive.
This is one strange town, where Bengals' fans do the Gator Chomp after Santonio takes their team out of the playoffs. Holmes had the wit to give them the O-H-I-O.... most of them had no idea that was a reference to the state in which Cincinnati actually exsists.

Having grown up in Ohio, I have nothing but love for this state and tOSU, and if I were good enough at football to have been recruited by all the big time programs when I was in high school, there would have been absolutely no question in my mind that I would go to tOSU. That's why I find it so hard to believe that Cincinnati kids generally don't hold the same feelings.
Do the people of Cincinnati really have such thin skin that Bruce's quote turned them off forever to tOSU? If so, that's pretty pathetic. But I agree that the city in general has at a minimum no allegiance to tOSU and more likely a dislike. I don't know if it's a little brother complex or what. I just know that there is NO WAY that Browns fans (of which I am not one, I will add, for any Cincinnati readers out there) would do the Gator chop.

No question about it.
And that's indicative of why some Ohio State people refer to the 'nati as Cincitucky. I'm not saying it's right, but it's not a city that appears to have a lot of pride in being a part of the State of Ohio.

Cincinnati is Cincinnati. It is a nice place, and they play good football down there. It is not "really" Ohio, though. It's Ohio-Indiana-Catholic-Kentucky. It is its own entity. Kids who go to Ohio State from Cincinnati go there because it is appealing to them compared to other schools. It very rarely has anything to do with being a Buckeye from birth. I think this is especially true for a "transplant" like Martin. The Buckeyes were and are very appealing, but he is, essentially, similar to an OOS recruit.

Good luck to Ben, however I must say I'm very surprised...
UT is horrible academically; if you have a heart beat they will accept you (as long as your check doesn't bounce). Fulmer seems to recruit great talent every year, and seems to lose a couple of games every year. Not sure why Ben wouldn't head down to Florida if he really wants to play in the SEC (better academics, better coach, better weather, etc.)... to each his own I guess...

The AA game has not been good to OSU. It seems that all of the kids torn wind up on the other side.
May be me.

Where does UT rank in the Sec? Easily they're behind Fla,LSU.Aub,Ark,Ga and maybe even with SC,Ala. That puts them in the class of "20-25" nationally. If he is as good as we think he is he should be getting plenty of action as a Freshman. With Gholston, Wilson, Rose he would never make the rotation. So if it came down to PT he made a good decision. Good Luck Ben.
