Edmonds rushing into local spotlight

From staff reports
St. Edward senior tailback Frank Edmonds is continuing to make lasting impressions.
Edmonds, who emerged on the area high school scene last season by rushing for 2,036 yards and 22 touchdowns, again displayed exceptional balance and vision as he darted through the holes provided by the Eagles' line last weekend during a scrimmage against Mentor.
Edmonds appeared stronger and faster than he was last year.
"Oh yeah, I've worked a lot on improving both," said the 5-8, 187-pound Edmonds at a recent practice. "I have been doing a lot of agility drills and I'm running hills to improve my burst."
St. Edward plans to utilize Edmonds' quickness more this season, such as getting the ball to him in space with screens. Eagles offensive coordinator Tom Lombardo is excited about what he believes will be one of the deepest offenses in the school's history.
"This is as talented a skilled group as I have ever had," said Lombardo, who guided Lake Catholic to the Division III state championship in 2001. "It is a very experienced group."
