IMHO I think we end up with this kid, he could very well see imediate playing time as a freshman, and talk is he is and OSU lean.

I also agree that he is our most important recruit as of right now.

Steve Hare, a writer for Irish Eyes stated on BSB that ND's rivals' insiders all think Barksdale is a lock for ND, but he's not as confident.

I found that rather intriguing given the talk that ND isn't a real big player in this recruitment.

I have heard several ND insiders state that they think Barksdale is eventually ND-bound, which is contradictory to everything I have heard and, although I don't want to speak for him, contradictory to everything HotMic has heard as well.

I understand what you are saying, but that seems to be more the mindset of the your average ND fan. Normally the actual insiders at the ND-based websites are still somewhat realistic, just not in this case...

my experience is that they feed this hysteria. They told their fanbase that Gary Gray was a lock for ND, even though everybody else told otherwise. Trust me, ND is running 4th in this recruitment right now.

Lawrence Wilson, but they remain fairly confident he will transfer.

They are doing the same with Mark Barnes right now. ND was in serious consideration with Barnes and Gray...until they visited.

Remember guys, these are the same people that kept saying Oglesby was a ND lock as well. We all know how that turned out.

what could drive this kid to commit to ND over the others? Outside of PT (which a kid like Barksdale's talent everyone has more than enough of...outside of Texas), a good academic reputation, and charlie's rings there isn't much to say that he is a lock anywhere.

This is a classic OSU vs Mich battle as of now. Can this change in ND's favor? Sure he probably won't be deciding until January, but ND has only been recruiting him for 3 months; meanwhile OSU and UM have been recruiting him since last summer.
