I wasn't using the smiley like I was happy he got injured, it is obviously being taken the wrong way. I was just saying the my source, which was the bottom line of ESPN, isn't exactly one that you can look up ont he internet and find unless they have a story up. It was more of a smiley to say trust me on this one, and in no way should be taken to mean I was happy he got injured.

If you follow college football, especially if you're a Michigan or IU fan, you probably heard about DB Jerimy Finch. Finch was the top player in the state of Indiana who verbally committed to Michigan. Then, about two weeks ago, he changed his mind and said he going to sign with the Hoosiers. But over the last couple of days, he started to waver once more and sources said it was 50/50 between Michigan and Indiana.

So who'd he sign with yesterday?

Florida.

Gator coach Urban Meyer said Florida kind of stumbled into Finch.

"After appraising the top-100 list, I saw that he was ranked highly and I wanted to know where he was going," Meyer said.
"I knew Warren Central from my days at Notre Dame. I called the coach, and he said, 'Coach, you'll never believe this, but we just finished talking about Florida.' He played in the Orlando all-star game, and the kid loves Florida. Five minutes later, I was on the phone with (Finch). Without watching one speck of tape on him, I asked him if he wanted to come down for a visit. We thought he was a great kid and a good-looking safety, and his tape just solidified it.

"We offered him, and he decided to come. It's unbelievable because I didn't go to Indiana once the whole time."

Finch has enrolled in online classes at IU, and is in the process of becoming a "regular" student. He reportedly will petition the NCAA this summer to not have to sit out a year for his transfer. Good luck on that front!

This isn't Finch's first flip-flop. He originally committed to Michigan, then made an oral commitment to Indiana in January 2007 before heading to Florida.
Finch said he has enrolled in online courses at IU and plans to register for the second summer session, which begins June 13, the Indianapolis Star reported recently. Players transferring from one Division I school to another are required to sit a season.
Finch, who played linebacker in his one season at Florida, was expected to compete for a starting spot for the Gators in the fall. Instead, he got his scholarship release from Florida earlier this month.

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (AP) -- Safety Jerimy Finch got a waiver from the NCAA Thursday to play for Indiana this season after transferring from Florida.
The sophomore from Indianapolis was a two-time first-team All-State player at Warren Central High School. He at first committed to play at Indiana, then signed with the Gators.
He had seven tackles and one interception in three games as a freshman in 2007 before breaking his leg and missing the rest of the season.
Finch helped lead Warren Central to its fourth straight Indiana high school Class 5A title in 2006.
