USC don't really need to go that deep in the state... as far as top 10.
They seem to get what they need from Cali and get other top players from other states.

Look at the NFL HOF numbers. Though Ohio isn't as large population wise as other football hotbeds, we compare favorably in HOF'ers. Those would be true "elite" players. The rest were mistaken as elite by a recruiting service. Just my .02.

I'm not talking NFL Hall of Fame, or even 5 star studs. I am simply saying players that Tressel thinks are worthy of OSU scholarships. You do not find them at every position, every year, w/ consistent depth. You do in the other states I mentioned. Do you think Tressel might have offered a couple more Ohio DTs besides Jeremiah if the talent had been there this year?

I'm just saying that even Tressel is going to make mistakes. There are going to be plenty of kids not offered by tOSU that are "elite", just slipped through the cracks, for whatever reason.
Just because LSU offers a kid from Louisiana a scholly, doesn't mean the kid is elite. (not that that's what you were implying)

Tressel Recruiting Choices

Tressel is human but saying he will make mistakes with his selection of recruits is speculative. In Ohio he has one of the best pools of talented kids to select from and those that were selected just happen to have the right mix of "stuff" to impress JT. There may be better players all over the country that he will never see except for maybe on the football field playing tOSU. It's my humble opinion that a great coach will take a collection of talented kids and make them into a winning football team. No one player will take them to undefeated status or the playoff games. But one coach with his collection of talented 3 and 4 star players will. Tressel made no mistakes, he knows what he's doing for the team. He, after all, is the Mastermind.
