I think the new kickoff rules give a HUGE advantage to the schools who have more overall talent. The kind of athletes we have that are maybe in the 2 deep or just outside and running to cover/return kickoffs gives us a huge advantage over almost anyone we play. Especially the Akron's of the world.

This maybe the week we see some kick-off returns from the likes of Saine, Robo and Hartline. Will Ray Small return and add to that depth? Let us not get too confident and rest on our heels. Every week needs to show signs of improvement all around.

Wow, this guy went over just to say hello.
ZipsNation.Org -> Hola Zip fans
BTW, the clown that runs that joint had a press conference with Governor Stickland where he stood up in front of the crowd, announced that he would "be setting the pace" for the changes to the university system then made a cheap joke about hoping Ohio State "knows its place."
I'm sure that Stricland found that not only mature and classy but also very smart seeing that he had personally helped recruit Gee back to Ohio State and had already formally announced that Ohio State would be the new system's flagship.
For once, I'm hoping that Tressell unleashes hell and hangs a good old fashioned 70 point beatdown on our upcoming opponent.

Yes, special teams are a concern. Missed extra point, field goal and blocked punt against Army.
Defense is the strong point with 8 starters returning.
Offense is young...only three starters returning. Two new quarterbacks, both sophomores.
Chris Jacquemain won the starting QB job, however, Carlton Jackson is also getting playing time. Jacquemain (Mentor) is more of a drop back guy...Jackson is more athletic run-out-of-the pocket style.
Hoping for a good, injury free game for both sides.

Welcome, zip81. Thanks for the comments, and we certainly agree on the last statement.

Seeing the way they are acting so far I'm sure after the 21+ point loss we'll be hearing all about how the refs screwed them, if they just made this play or that, how overrated we are etc.
Typical little-mans complex so far.

Don't forget that they're going to "SHOCK THE WORLD!!!!!!!"
Yeah, after the Michigan debacle, anything can happen. However, if your rival gets beat by a 1-AA team, you sure as hell won't overlook anyone. Nobody wants to be next.

Plus it's nice having a coach like Tressel, you know there are plently of things he can use to motivate the players each week to play their best. Fighting for positions (which was obviously the case against YSU, the post game film session could do wonders), poor play in certain areas ("push" from the O-Line in short yardage situations), and if nothing else, it's not like one game against YSU is going to erase the memory of last January in the players mind, bringing that up should be more than enough to motivate them to play their hardest each week.
Hopefully the players come out and play their hardest on Saturday, and I'm hoping to see the offensive line and Beanie come out with a chip on their shoulders and establish a dominant run game like we know they can.
