Tyrone Willingham came as close as a coach can in April to naming the teenage redshirt freshman as the replacement for graduated passer-runner Isaiah Stanback.

"If we had to play a game today, Jake Locker would be our quarterback," Willingham said Thursday, four days before the coach begins his third and most promising set of spring practices at Washington.

That promise chiefly comes from Locker, who turns 19 in June.

As if any of us here were doubting the outcome anyway. Looks like Willingham has his QB for the season already.

RS Freshman Jake Locker.

What are the chances Tressel's boys are going to allow a freshman QB to win this game on national t.v.?

I think none.

I think none.

RS Freshman = sophomore

Locker is actually a sophomore. I think we'll win, but it could be close; since, the game is at Washington and we will be starting a "new" quarterback this year too.

The "key to the game" (besides who scores the most points usually wins) could be which quarterback makes the fewest mistakes (turnovers, bad decisions, and not recognizing the blitz, etc.).
