Man, free to kill gophers at will.
To kill, you must know your enemy, and in this case my enemy is a varmint.
And a varmint will never quit - ever.
They're like the Viet Cong - Varmint Cong.
So you have to fall back on superior intelligence and superior firepower.
And that's all she wrote.

This one could get really ugly really fast... I mean my mighty redhawks just got stomped into next week by Colorado and Pushed the Gophers to OT. However if the unis look as bad as the bright yellow mostrosities from Oregon, maybe I'll be blinded by halftime and not be able to see it.

I want to see the benches cleared. I want to see Taurian Washington and the young WR's get some touches. Hopefully we dominate from the start.

Lima
Another struggling team next for Ohio State
Jim Naveau | jnaveau@limanews.com - 09.24.2007
COLUMBUS ? Ohio State quarterback Todd Boeckman was talking about hitting wide open receivers with passes, but he could have been talking about the two-game stretch of games for the Buckeyes that started with Northwestern on Saturday night and continues this Saturday night at Minnesota.
?Coach always says you can?t miss the lay-ups,? Boeckman said.
Minnesota (1-3, 0-1 Big Ten) appears to be a second straight week in the lay-up line for OSU (4-0, 1-0 Big Ten), which rolled over Northwestern 58-7 in its Big Ten opener on Saturday at Ohio Stadium.
Minnnesota?s one victory is over Miami (Ohio) in overtime. It lost its opener in overtime to Bowling Green, lost to Florida Atlantic and lost 45-31 to Purdue on Saturday.

This game could be a continuation of the NW game. OH My!
We do need to continue just getting better as a team.

This year, OSU coaches have brought back the mentality of "The Silver Bullets." Last season, the emphasis was on ball hawking, and our turnover margin ultimately bore that out, at the expense of seeing those Jack Tatum highlight hits we have enjoyed going back years and years. This season, the emphasis is on hitting the opponent so hard that they quit playing. Whether it's a WR blasting a LB to spring a run, a DB blowing up a screen, or a special teams gunner ear-hole'ing the first up-man he sees in the wedge, the idea is to strike fear into the opponent in every phase of the game.
Add to this, the Buckeyes can "manufacture" some extra motivation by drawing from last season, where the Jack Tatum hit of the Year was arguably the shot that Ray Small took that ended his season.
Small and the Buckeyes will have revenge on their mind, and I think the special teams hits are going to be nasty this Saturday night -- maybe even personal foul inducing nasty. This team is a family, and they're going to be looking at taking care of their own. Every single player on the roster will see the hit Small took last year. They're likely going to be reminded of it every day this week.
Small will also be the biggest beneficiary of the fast track on the astroturf of the HHH Baggy Dome. Last time we were there, Ginn returned a kick off for a TD and Pittman broke off the long runs we hadn't seen before in his career.
I think #4 enjoys a HUGE day in the return game.

Most importantly, I think they need to get the turnovers under control. Averaging 2 TO's a game, against poor to mediocre defenses, is not good, and it's the one area where I think there's significant cause for concern. It probably won't matter against Minnesota, but if the Bucks don't improve their ball security, it likely will matter against quality opposition.

They may be looking for Robo on a deep route first.
We should find Washington on a shorter route first and do the same for the other young WRs on similar shorter routes in the first series of downs.
I'm looking foward to seeing all the WR's back in action again and scoring.
I'd like to see 1 defensive score, 4 offensive scores from WR's, 2 Offensive scores from RBs, at least one kick off return for 6 (Ray), a couple of FGs for practice. 62 to 0. No injuries. No penalties. | |
