Maybe the ooze of leaking boilers on campus - no that would be some sort of black stuff.

The blackout didn't work when Maryland played WVU, and there seems to be a pretty good reason. The reason white-outs, red-outs and other bright color-outs seem to work the best is because the colors are abrasive to the eyes, especially under the bright lights of a night game. But color-outs rarely work unless the crowd is downright raucous I.E. '05 Penn State. Look at USC dropping a deuce on Bill Callahan's face earlier this year in Lincoln, as well as Iowa's yellow-out from last year. The crowds were taken out of those games pretty much when CJ Gable/Troy Smith took the first snap. Night games at a place like Penn State are entirely different ballgames because playing at PSU at night is like playing in front of a jet engine. It's usually loud any time of day, but when the student section is good and liquored-up, it's a feeding frenzy. Same goes for Ohio Stadium and Camp Randall, albeit that's only once in a blue moon when Wisconsin is actually good and not just fattened up on playing no-namers.
Playing at Purdue on the other hand is like playing in front of the Wright Flyer; the stadium and fans rarely make as much of a difference as they do in other stadiums.

Scout.com: Cavalcade of Whimsy - Who's The Real Deal?

........
3. Ohio State vs. Purdue
Purdue established itself as the best team in the MAC over the first few games of the year, and came up with name wins over Minnesota and Notre Dame, but now comes the two-week make-or-break stretch facing Ohio State and Michigan. There?s still a date at Penn State down the road, but there?s no Wisconsin, and no Illinois. The balanced offense is lighting up everyone like a Christmas tree, but now it has to face an Ohio State defense that?s not giving up jack squat, allowing just one meaningful touchdown in five games.
Real Deal or No Deal? ? Ohio State yes, Purdue no. The Boilermaker offense is the real deal, and will give the Buckeye D its first push all year long, but the defense is on the verge of being exposed. Still stinging from the championship stinker, no one?s doing cartwheels over Ohio State, but with Brian Robiskie lighting up secondaries, and the loaded defense playing better than any outside of Baton Rouge, this is a legitimate national title contender..........

From the 50 yard line

Purdue #2 RB is out with a broken arm and they have a freshman that is still trying to make his mark. Painter doesn't run much as I understand it, pretty much a pocket passer. But they do have one respectable RB who will the personal mission of #33.
They're going to pass like a mother and when we pressure Painter to throw early, we'll frustrate their passing game. We wear them down defensively, and that's were the game will be won. All the more reason for Andre Amos to rotate into the game with Chimdi. Plenty of fresh legs and speed in our secondary to be used, I think it will be a very fast game.

My Purdue grad friend gave me that information. I didn't check it out though.

Here's their depth chart, there's a Freshman, Dan Dierking, in as #2 RB. Whoever was #2 before reportedly broke his arm.
