And I agree about Beanie. Flat-out sitting him might not be the best plan. Get him some reps, but don't over-do it. Start with 10-15 carries, and see how he is. Maybe 5-10 in the second half, depending on how the game is going. |

I knew we couldn't keep Rolle on the bench long. This kid just jumps off the screen at you even surrounded by the rest of OSU's talent.

Anyway, for those talking about Beanie. I say leave him out the entire game. I think we are talented enough to beat Michigan State even with Beanie "getting back in the groove." Hell, I dont know if I'd leave Beanie in against MSU longer than a few series if we get the game in hand to rest him up for the PSU game. That's me though and I'm not a coach..... |

I'd sit Beanie. It's not about a "groove" thing or "depriving" him of carries, but rather making sure our clear-cut #1 running back is healthy for the home stretch.

Buckeyes get ready for 3rd intrastate opponent this season 10/8/2007, 6:02 p.m. EDT The Associated Press MARTIN SPEAKS:@ Kent State coach Doug Martin on the state of Kent State's team: "I think we're a more talented team than what we've been. Our kids are excited about what they're doing. We're ranked near the top in just about every offensive and defensive category in the MAC. We're making progress, but it's just a matter of getting over the hump to win close games. We've lost two close games in the conference, that both came down to the last play of the game where we're actually throwing the ball in the end zone in both of those games to tie the score or win it. But we didn't make the plays. That's what good teams do ? win those close games. We're not there yet." Cont... |

Flashes coach building program Tuesday, October 9, 2007 3:25 AM By Bob Baptist THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH They don't rebuild at Kent State. They don't reload, either. "There's no tradition at Kent State," said Doug Martin, the school's 10th football coach since Don James led the Golden Flashes to their last bowl game in 1972. Martin is the second coach in that span to last more than three years, and the fourth to win as many as six games in a season. "Ohio State, there's tradition," Martin said. "They know how to win. You come in and you're taught how to win by the guys that are already there. Cont... |

... coming off @Purdue and with Michigan State looming, is this the classic sandwich/hangover game? Certainly not predicting Kent St to win, but we've seen these bizarre games before coming off a big game, such as with San Diego St in previous years.
I dunno, I just have that feeling that this is one of those mail-it-in/sleepwalk games with a noon kick that takes OSU about 20 minutes to wake up and get [censored]ed ... |
