Miles contract
Les Miles signed his new contract with LSU. What I found interesting is that according to the report I saw, it was merely a contract extension of 2 years. He didn't ask for more money or anything else. There are some sort of incentive clauses, which haven't been made fully public yet, but they involve athlete academic rates, and they are to benefit the assistant coaches, not Miles. Kind of unusual in todays world.

The contract extension signed Thursday added a series of financial incentive clauses to recognize players' academic achievements. If players hit certain academic benchmarks, Miles is given a pool of $150,000 to $250,000 to disburse to his coaching staff to reward them.

ESPN - LSU extends Miles' contract through '12 - College Football
I like that it's tied to academics and that LSU seems to actually care about this end of the spectrum, unlike some other SEC schools which shall remain nameslee *cough*AUBURN*cough*.

tOSU owns conventional offenses...
Fast Fact -
The last time OSU lost to a non-spread option team was back in Oct 05 (Penn State - trust me...this game was not the fault of our D). Since then, tOSU has gone 30-0 (2 losses to UF and Illni) against every "conventional offense" they faced.
Some (including our ESPN favorites) may say that it is the mobile QB that kills OSU. I wonder if they talked to Jake Locker of Wash and Tyler Donovan of Wisc after they played the Bucks this year? Both are extrememly great runners, both beat several teams with their legs and arms, and both were extremely limited in the running game when they played OSU.
LSU fans - have you run the spread option with your QB's this year? If not, how mobile are your two QB's?
If 10 = Dennis Dixon and 1 = Jimmy Clausen, where do your QBs fall?

We run an option at times, I wouldn't call it a spread option though, more conventional. We run it more with our #2 QB. Both of them are very mobile although Flynn has been hampered for the last few games with a high ankle sprain. He should be 100% by game time. Flynn mostly limits his running to QB draws and scrambling when his receivers are covered, Perilleaux has been running a majority of the time with planned runs and option plays, but he throws very well.

I would put Perilleaux at a 7 and Flynn at a 8. Flynn is much more mobile than most teams realize. RP is very Teebow like in his speed and size. Honestly, I think RP is Tim Teebow with a better arm.

The biggest arm on a QB I have ever seen was Russel, he was just a freak. RP's arm is truly in that class. I think Tebow's deliver looks a bit weird like Vince Young, but he does have a very strong arm.

RP has had some off the field problems and he does not know the offense as good as Flynn. He is just a Sophomore compared to a 5 year senior. Also, Miles give more opportunities to upper class men.
