RB- OSU, Sure LSU has talent here and people claim they go like 4 deep at tailback but to me that means they don't have that go to guy like beanie wells.
FB- OSU, purely because LSU doesn't use one too often
TE- Push
Oline- OSU, I like the size and speed of our line. Unlike LSU, teams have known we are going to run the ball and don't seem like they can do much to stop it even though they know its coming. To me thats what a great line does.
DE- OSU, we have that big time rush end as well as a tough physical end that can play the run as well. We have 1st rounders at End they do not.
DT- LSU, they have 1st rounders we do not haha.
LB- OSU, how can someone give LSU the nod here? #7 for LSU isn't as good as our #33, and I believe our SLB/WLB are slightly better tacklers as well.
CB- OSU, Jenkins/Washington/Chikwa will all be playing on Sundays with both Jenkins and Washington being 1st rounders. Jenkins has the ability to shut down any teams #1 man, and I like Washington over LSU's #1 Zenon.
Saftey- Push, slight edge LSU, I like OSU's cover ability but I love LSU's physical style of play from the saftey position.
These are just my opinion but I'm basing them on the fact of the stats of both teams. OSU's defensive back 7 has played far much better this year and because of that I took things like that into account

So let me see if I understand this.....
OSU -- RB, FB, O-Line, DE, LB , CB, Coaching
Even -- TE, S
LSU -- QB, DT, Home Field
and yet somehow LSU is a 5.5 pt favorite?? I just don't see how we have a shot if the only advantage we have is w/ our quarterback (which is debatable) and Glen Dorsey.

To be honest though I agree with the list.

well I'm not sayin the edges are decisive. IMO the only reason LSU is favored is because of what happened last year. Look at the stats from this year though and you'll understand why I ranked things the way I did. I also had LSU with an advantage at Saftey so take that into account albeit a small lead.
How can you rank LSU's DB's higher if OSU's defense is #1 in the pass? Same thing goes for LB's, look at the combined run stopping/pass protection numbers that also favors OSU. If you look Its not as lopsided as you think, I only have OSU possessing 1 better unit. It's actually a Tie if you count the FB's into the RB category.
Oh yeah WR's are LSU as well... extremely deep, talented, and fast.
So I have it...
OSU-RB, DE,LB,CB, Coaching
Push- TE
LSU-QB, WR, DT, S, Homefield
Here's some points on why on some of the positions that are close
RB- Again Beanie at 240 and with his speed is a weapon. Hester is very tough but he lacks that big game presence like beanie can have.
FB- Hester is somewhat used like your fullback, but our fullback at 270 and 5'10" is tough to deal with because of those demensions.
oline- You could say PUSH but the fact that LSU has given up more sacks than OSU despite having a mobile QB is something that can't be ignored. Boeckman hasn't been harrassed much this year.
LB- I like your #7 I think highfill is his name but I could be wrong. I don't think he's as complete as James Lauranitus, and I believe Marcus Freeman is a tad better than your WLB as well. This might be were the bucks are deepest this year.

Im not sure about LBs...each team has one that shows up every saturday and better be accounted for...the others are hit and miss. Freeman and Grant have each shown glimpses of greatness...and been weak links at times.
Push to me.

The one area I would take exception with is RB. Taking off my purple and gold glasses for a moment, I'd rate 'em even. Don't overlook Hester. I'm sure Coach Tressell isn't.

The two other factors that I'm sure Tressel is taking very seriously are the overall level of experience of the LSU squad, and the fact that they have been taken to the wire (even though with mixed results) in OT twice this season.

I think the light went on with Freeman. He's been a beast for the second half of the season. With Grant I agree.
