John - that bolded part simply isn't true. I cannot give you the precise line but I do recall that it was very narrow.
As for the relative merits of the Big 10 and PAC 10 in that year - aside from underscoring the cyclical nature of the game - it has little relevance to the perceived strength of ASU as a team in that year. They were ranked #2 for a reason. Besides which the contrast between the Buckeyes prior game and that of the Sun Devils couldn't be more glaring. OSU - loss to TSUN, ASU rolled up 651 on rival Arizona in their prior game, then were held 224 below their 500 yard average by the Buckeyes in the Rose Bowl.
OK - back to the BCS Championship game.

You are missing the point. The conversation I am having is regarding those who think that everybody in the country hates Ohio State because they are so dominating. Yes, Ohio State has one of the most dominant programs in college football right now. Over on tigerforums, we are having a discussion of who the 10 most dominant programs are, and everyone includes OSU on the list, but everyone also agrees that USC is still the most dominant program. If anyone is going to be hated for being dominant, it is USC, not OSU. If you polled the nation you would see that most people consider USC's program to be the most dominant in college football today.

If I polled the nation Chris Daughtry and Nickleback would be the top rock bands today

2000-2002 Miami 35-2 1 NC
Those are 2 streaks just in the past 10 years that are equal to or better than USC's run. If you go back and look at the history of CFB there are numerous examples of better 3 year periods than what USC did.

When I said greatest run, I was just talking about how they shattered the all-time record for consecutive appearances at the AP No. 1 spot. I'm not saying they were the greatest team in recent history. And yes, in recent history, you could make a good argument that 94-96 Nebraska and 00-02 Miami had greater runs. I mean that 00-02 Miami program had like seven guys end up going to the NFL and being all-pro. That was a hell of a game seeing OSU take them down. That goal line stand at the end was one of the greatest things I have ever seen in college football history.

Ahh, then you should have said the greatest 3 year run of media love in CFB history and I would have just said "I agree."

Very simple. When you are the greatest team in the world, you have two disadvantages. First, you let it go to your head, and second, everybody gets jacked up to play you. It's the same reason Ohio State (who was the greatest team in the world at the time) lost so bad last year (or lost period) to Florida.

not to get to off topic, but I believe that; look at the record sales. I'm not saying I hate both artists, but they sure as hell are no where near my top.
So I went to ebay this morning to check tix prices for fun....
wasnt so fun. I mean, how do some of these people sleep at night?
