From the updates, it sounds like a Rudy Gay situation to me. A kid with a ton of potential that just can't put it together on a consistent basis.
I think Gates will be a tremendous pickup for someone, but he might take a year or two to develop on the college level, but b4 then he might get his head filled with some NBA jazz and decide to leave to early.

Nothing new......averaged 8.5 ppg at the recent NBA camp. Ohio State, Cincinnati, Xavier, and Michigan have offered.

Adidas Superstar Camp: Saturday

Quote:
SUWANEE, Ga.-- Here were the players and stories everyone was buzzing about from the adidas Superstar Camp on Saturday.
Five on The Rise
Yancy Gates, Forward, Hughes Center (Cincinnati)
With the adidas Superstar Camp in its fourth and final day, many players were starting to wear down. Gates, on the other hand, was just warming up. And at a hulking 6-foot-9, 225 pounds, he was impossible to stop once he started bulling his way to the hoop. Gates finished the afternoon session with 19 points and seven rebounds ? even making a couple shots from the perimeter when teams collapsed on him down low.

The Michigan staff was watching Gates closely this past weekend in Las Vegas. Reportedly Gates played well.

Michigan continues to show strong interest in Gates. UConn and Louisville have been in contact along with Michigan, Ohio State and Cincy. At this point Michigan is likely to get a visit in the fall.
