IMO he is sort of a backup plan b/c I think Buford's recruitment is going to pickup and the coaches just want to have all their bases covered.

Hopson comes in at #10 in the new 2008 rankings, not a bad backup plan.

I really don't see Hopson as a backup plan to Buford but more as a push. If Buford waits around and doesn't commit for some time and Hopson pulls the trigger for the Buckeyes we aren't at that much of a loss. However, I do think our chances of getting Buford are much higher.
I think it is the same way with Roe/Gates while Roe is a much better player than Gates if Roe waits too long and for some strange reason Gates pulls the trigger I would think that we lose Roe.

Hopson recently visited the Vols. He enjoyed his visit and says that the Vols are recruiting him the hardest followed by Ohio State, Memphis, Louisville, Mississippi State at this point. Hopson does not list a top five, but says that the Vols will most likely make that list.
