Assuming that this were to happen, would Babbitt have to sit out a year, like a transfer, or would a release of a letter of intent allow him to play right away?

If they release he could play right away. However Nevada could try to pull a KState.

Not that I'm in the know... But, I don't think it was as much about the coach as it was playing at home in Nevada. I don't see him going to Cal... I think he stays at Nevada first off and then potenialy OSU if not.

I don't think Luke's decision was so much about playing for the home state school as it was playing close to home. I think there was some talk about his Dad transferring or something in regards to his job. Saying that, California is a lot closer to Nevada than Ohio
